Don Knotts got his star on Hollywood Walk of Fame at age 75 on January 19, 2000. His star can be found on the North side of the 7100 block of Hollywood Blvd  (7083 to be exact). The star was awarded for his contributions in the field of television.

Mr. Knotts commented  after receiving his star, “I can’t believe I have my own star. I’m gonna come down here every morning and shine that sucker up.”

Thanks to The Andy Griffith Show Rerun Watchers Club the audio we have of the ceremony.

Allen, my thanks to you and Jim Clark for enabling us to hear the audio from the ceremony when Don Knotts was awarded his star on the Walk of Fame. I really enjoyed listening–made me feel like I was there! Hearing the shouts of “Atta boy, Luther!” was a bonus!

Great Podcast. I visited Hollywood twice and spent a little time on the BLVD but I did not take time to look up my fovorites. There was just so much to do and see in a short week, but it gives me another reason to go back someday. These audio clips are pricless pieces of Mayberry history, thanks! Ole Don was in very good company on that day, listening to this was in a way just like being there, the sound is so realistic.
