This is the sixth episode of Two Chairs focusing on the 1998 Mayberry gathering in Kingsport, TN. If you have missed any of the previous episodes you should go back and check them out by using the link in the notes below.

The event was called “I Remember Mayberry” and in this episode we hear from Maggie Peterson as “Charlene Darling.” Last episode we were about to hear Maggie singing things that weren’t on The Andy Griffith Show but songs she very much enjoys singing. This time, we hear from her as Charlene and she’s singing with her brothers, all of the original Dillards (Rodney, Doug, Dean and Mitch). She’s also joined by Elinor “Ellie Walker” Donahue and Howard “Ernest T” Morris on the stage. This was the final performance of the 1998 Kingsport event.

I want to once again encourage you to watch the video version of this episode because you’ll be able to see Maggie rather thank hear her, only. While you’re watching, be sure to like and subscribe to my YouTube channel.

We’ll try a few trivia questions for some fun.

This week’s installment of This Week in Mayberry History by Randy Turner featuring “Richard Bull” part 1.

In 1998 there was a gathering in Kingsport, TN of The Andy Griffith Show cast members. The event was called “I Remember Mayberry” and it was a special time for fans. In this episode we hear from Elinor “Miss Ellie” Donahue and James “Jim Lindsey” Best and their performances at that event. I want to encourage you to watch the video version of this episode because I believe it will add a lot to the experience. The audio isn’t what I wish it was but it’s the best quality I could accomplish. Watching along will help you pick up on what is being said if anything is a little difficult.

It’s so exciting to see Elinor singing and dancing and then to see James come out and play, well…almost play, his guitar for the fans.

David “The Mayberry Deputy” Browning was the emcee for the evening and he’ll be introducing our Mayberry friends.

We’ll try our hand a few trivia questions between performances.

Pull up a chair, sit back and enjoy the show.

TCNW Replay 217: Mayberry Christmas to All 2012

Two Chairs No WaitingHost: Allan Newsome
Running time: 0:22:55

Merry Christmas, everyone!  I’m taking a break during the holidays to spend with family but I wanted to still be able to spend time with you in Mayberry so I’m doing a Two Chairs No Waiting “Replay.”   Okay…it’s a rerun but, after all, don’t we all love reruns.  So enjoy this Christmas memory from 2012 and Merry Christmas! –Allan

It is a great time of year to be spending time with friends and family.  That’s what I think of you as, friends and family, so I’m thankful to have this chance to visit with you in Mayberry.

The Andy Griffith Show only has one “Christmas” episode and I know fans enjoy watching it year after year.  Because of that, I figure that listeners to this podcast enjoy hearing some of the same things each Christmas as well.  It’s a tradition if you do it more than twice so we’ll continue the traditions we’ve started here at Two Chairs No Waiting.

We get to hear Ben Sandifer’s wonderful Mayberry Christmas poem.

We take a wonderful return trip down memory lane with Charlie Monk called “Andy & Opie Christmas.”
Some “Fred Upstairs” want’a be sings “Barney the Mayberry Deputy.”  And we close out the show with Miss Ellie singing “Away in a Manger.”

God bless you and may the year to come be a wonderful blessing to you and yours.

If you missed episode 313 or 314, please go back and enjoy it then you’ll be caught up and ready for part 3 of the interview.

Neal Brower has been having sessions of Professor Brower’s Class at Mayberry Days for many years. These live classes go along with the regular column called “Professor Brower’s Class” that he started in 1991 in issues of The Bullet (now called The eBullet) newsletter of The Andy Griffith Show Rerun Watchers Club.

We’re so luck that TAGS fans Neil & Pat Coleman provided us the recordings of this wonderful interview.

In this episode, Neal Brower continues the interview with Elinor Donahue from Mayberry Days 2005.  Elinor discusses her time on Father Knows Best and how she got the role, her first marriage, having a baby, her joining the cast of The Andy Griffith Show.  She is so open with her memories and, for that, fans have so much to be thankful for.  These are amazing insights into the career of one of Mayberry’s favorite ladies.  If you missed episode 313, please go back and enjoy it and be ready for part 3 of the interview coming next episode.

Elinor Donahue is amazing and very open about her life and experience in this interview from Mayberry Days 2005.  “Miss Ellie” is always a favorite of the fan of The Andy Griffith Show and the love for her will only increase as this interview progresses.  We learn about her early live and career and in future podcast episodes we get to know this gracious lady in a much more personal way than every before.
