I have folks ask me all the time how much time the tribute artists spend rehearsing the skits/shows we put on at events like Mayberry Days. I thought I’d take an episode to talk about that topic and let you all know that, well, we don’t get to rehearse at all. What you see is the tribute artists just stepping up and improving our way through scenes from The Andy Griffith Show and most of the time it’s with almost zero time to even walk through the scene.
I’ll explain that and give you an example of a skit we did back in 1995 that was the VERY first time we’d even tried to do it. It was done in front of a live audience at Col Tim’s at Mayberry Days 1995.
I have a couple of voicemails we’ll address and then we’ll wrap things up by playing some easy Mayberry trivia.
Thank you to the folks that attended the Mayberry Meet-up 2023 for your support of the podcast!

We had some feedback last week that I didn’t cover and one in particular influenced this entire episode.
The first bit of feedback, I think I did cover last week but we like re-runs around here so….I’ll do it again.
The second bit of feedback is from an anonymous caller talking about Otis Campbell Day in Nashville, TN. We’ll hear from him and I’ll clear up a few things he mentions then we’ll go and hear a full report on the Otis Campbell Day event from the April 13, 1988 edition of The Andy Griffith Show Rerun Watcher Club newsletter, The Bullet.
We’ll wrap things up by playing some Otis related multiple choice Mayberry trivia questions.

I have received a good bit of feedback from listeners/viewers of Two Chairs over the last few months. To be honest, it’s a bit more work for me to put together “feedback” episodes so I haven’t been able to do get an episode together until now.
We have some really good thoughts and ideas from you this episode so I know you’ll enjoy hearing from them. I certainly enjoy being able to hear your thoughts and I invite you all to send those thoughts so we can hear what you have to say.
We’ll the play some multiple choice Mayberry trivia to wrap things up.

When did The Andy Griffith Show first come into being? That’s the kind of question answered in the book by Randy Turner called “Mayberry Firsts” and we’ll learn the answer to that question on this episode. Randy’s book if full of fun and interesting information like what you’ll hear on Two Chairs No Waiting. If you want more stuff like this, head over to Weaver’s Department Store and pick up Randy’s book.
We hear from several folks who wrote into the podcast with questions this week. One of the questions I don’t know an answer to so I’m hopeful someone listening/watching might be able to help. Another bit of feedback comes from an Andy Griffith Show cast persons family member and I think you’re really going to enjoy hearing it.
Finally, we play some fun trivia that I hope you get a smile out of playing.

Mayberry Day 2022 has come and gone but the memories created during the event will live long in the hearts of those who were able to attend. We’ll hear reports from a few folks about their experience during Mayberry Days and we’ll even get one video report this week. If you missed last weeks podcast, we had a great report from a listener in that episode, too so go back and check it out.
This episode of Two Chairs marks the 14 year mark for the podcast. It began on October 11, 2008 and now, 706 episodes later, we still have fun talking Mayberry. What a blessing this 62 year old television series has been in my life.
We’ll hear from SpiritWalker with his Returning to Mayberry report.

Wow…we’ve made it to 700 episodes of Two Chairs No Waiting and folks are still listening/watching! I want to thank all of you for spending time with me each week here in Mayberry so we can talk about our hometown. It’s almost like therapy to loose myself in the town of Mayberry each week and spend time with you, my fellow townsfolk, and share a laugh. Thank you for being here and supporting me.
This week, we’ll hear from fellow fans via voicemail. We have one that’ll kick thinks off talking about Ellen Brown and what color her dress is at the beginning of “The Manicurist.” Is is black or gray? We also hear from several other folks with wonderful observations and comments. Thanks to all of those that called in and left messages.
We’ll wrap up with SpiritWalker and his “Returning to Mayberry” segment as he works to complete a chain of connection between episodes. Wow, he does a lot of research so y’all dig him because he digs you.
