There is so much wonderful music associated with The Andy Griffith Show from the opening theme to the emotion creating background music played in every episode.  Earle Hagen is the man who created that music and the emotions within us with the skill of a master.

Let’s learn a little more about Hagen and the music that has touched our hearts.

It’s time for us to step back and see what you have to say about past episodes. Every week I talk and talk so it’s a real pleasure for me to hear back from you.  Thank you for taking time to give back to the show by providing your feedback.

This episode we hear from folks talking about “Good Old 14-A”, Betty Lynn Interviews, The Ghost and Mr. Chicken and more.  We also take a few minutes to remind everyone about the ORIGINAL Mayberry podcast, “Burke On Mayberry,” and his report on the upcoming Mayberry Days festival in Mt. Airy, NC.

Take you shoes off and sit a spell with us and enjoy the show.

Welcome to the first episode of our 5th year of podcasting!

You are in for a real treat for this episode of year five. Our roaming reporter, Tom Rusk, was able to visit with LeRoy “Mack” McNees for a wonderful interview.  If you don’t know, LeRoy was a member of The Country Boys and appeared on two episodes of The Andy Griffith Show.  “Mayberry on Record” and “Quiet Sam” were the two episodes and LeRoy even had a speaking part on “Mayberry on Record.”

LeRoy is one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet in this world so I know you’ll enjoy this episode and it’s a great way to start off year five.

Sit back and enjoy the podcast then head over The eBullet website and subscribe by e-mail or by the rss feed for you computer folks (subscribe to feed), or both.  You don’t want to miss it.

Two Chairs No WaitingThose of you who aren’t able to attend the “live” recording of Two Chairs No Waiting on Monday nights may never have heard of a song called, “The Andy Griffith Show of Women.”  Well, I recently received permission from David Staples, the writer & performer, to play the song on the podcast.

In David’s own words, “The most sincere compliment you could give a woman is to compare her to the greatest show of all time.”  September 5, 2011 is my 19th wedding anniversary so what better compliment can I pay Jan than to compare her to The Andy Griffith Show.

We’re also going to talk about the upcoming Mayberry Days event in Mt. Airy, NC.  Mayberry Days is an annual gathering of fans of The Andy Griffith Show and occurs the last full weekend in September each year.

Two Chairs No Waiting

This episode is filled with feedback from listeners and answers to the questions.

Have you ever noticed that the opening theme from The Andy Griffith Show is in a different key than the closing theme?  I hadn’t but listener Larry did and so did trivia expert Paul Mulik who gives us some insight.

Did you know Aunt Bee was in the first episode of “Alfred Hitchcock Presents?”  You do now but listen to this episode to find out even more.

Thank you to all who have written and called in to Two Chairs No Waiting. I love to hear from you and I’m sure your fellow listeners enjoy hearing from someone other than me as well.

Two Chairs No Waiting

Two Chairs No Waiting

I hope you heard last weeks show and if you didn’t, go back and listen to episode 133 because tonight we complete our visit with Terry Eldredge (El) and Terry Smith (Smitty). These guys are two members of the 2011 Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America (SPBGMA) Instrumental Group of the Year, The Grascals.  They are BIG Mayberry fans and I enjoyed spending time talking Mayberry with them.

We did get some talk in about The Grascals new album DANCE TIL YOUR STOCKINGS ARE HOT AND RAVELING (A Tribute to the Music of The Andy Griffith Show) but we were having too much fun talking Mayberry.  What was to have been a 15 minute interview turned into 30 minutes and two episodes of this podcast.

I want to personally thank the guys for their time and for visiting with all of us here in our little corner of Mayberry. Now, they dig you so you folks be nice and dig them back.

On this episode we have a wonderful chance to visit with two members of the 2011 Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America (SPBGMA) Instrumental Group of the Year, The Grascals.  Terry Eldredge (guitar) and Terry Smith (bass) are BIG Mayberry fans….awh big ain’t the word for it….and it certainly comes through in the interview.

Most of the interview is directly about The Andy Griffith Show and their love for the show.  We do eventually talk about the release of their album DANCE TIL YOUR STOCKINGS ARE HOT AND RAVELING (A Tribute to the Music of The Andy Griffith Show) so if you love bluegrass and/or Andy, you’re gonna have a great time with the guys.
