November 12-17, 2011 folks in Mayberry went on "A Cruise to Mayberry #6" and I'll tell you a good time was had by all.

Just one of the wonderful parts of the cruise was a presentation by Marsha Anne Hudson about the home she was blessed to have lived in and been a part of building. This is a home that fans of The Andy Griffith Show would give their eye teeth to have for their very own.

I can't even guess how much Barney Fife realitor would be able to get a Mayberry fan to pay for one in their town.

This is a two part episode and, as a first, I would recommend that you actually watch the video version of the podcast for these episodes so you can see all the things we are talking about.

If you can't watch...don't worry, there are photos on our Facebook fan page related to this episode so you can still see what we're making comments about.

I know you're going to enjoy the show so be sure to come back next week for the conclusion.

This episode we're going to celebrate Betty Lynn's 85th birthday. Why, you may ask? Well, the day I'm recording is August 29, 2011 which just happens to be Betty's birthday and I though it would be fitting to tell "Thelma Lou" we all said "hey" on this, her special day.

The interview with Betty can be found on YouTube and was done several years ago at Mayberry Days by "Charles." I don't know Charles who but hopefully somebody listening to Two Chairs will be able to let us know so I can give proper credit.

Born Elizabeth Ann Theresa Lynn on August 29, 1926 in Kansas City, Missouri, Betty began acting in radio. She was later discovered in a Broadway production and signed to 20th Century Fox. She made her film debut in the 1948 film Sitting Pretty opposite Robert Young. That same year, she appeared in June Bride with Bette Davis followed by roles in Mother Is a Freshman (1949), Cheaper by the Dozen (1950), and Payment on Demand (1951).

In the 1953-1954 television season, Betty was cast as June Wallace, the fictitious sister-in-law of the Ray Bolger character in the ABC sitcom Where's Raymond?

After guest starring on various television series Betty won the role of Thelma Lou on The Andy Griffith Show. She portrayed the role regularly from 1961 until 1965 and made a final guest appearance in one episode during the sixth season(1965–1966).

Following the end of The Andy Griffith Show, Betty continued appearing in various television and film roles. In 1986, she reprised the role of Thelma Lou in the reunion television movie Return to Mayberry in which Thelma Lou and Barney Fife were finally married. In 2006, Lynn retired from acting and relocated to Mount Airy, North Carolina, the hometown of Andy Griffith and the town on which Mayberry was loosely based.

Betty Lynn currently makes monthly appearances at the Andy Griffith Museum in Mount Airy to sign autographs and meet with her fans.

Floyd Lawson, the barber in Mayberry, guest hosts this episode of Two Chairs No Waiting which features an interview by Greg Davis of the Priority Talk radio program heard on WXJC 92.5 fm and 850 am in Birmingham, AL. Allan was invited on the show to talk "Mayberry" and it just happened to be the week leading into the 11th Annual Mayberry Squad Car Nationals held in Graysville, AL.

Folks have been asking for Allan to interview himself but that never seemed right to him so thankfully Greg did the interviewing and "Floyd" is guest hosting so Allan didn't have to ask himself questions. Floyd host this and the other 2 parts of the interview that will follow over in the coming weeks. We hope you enjoy the show.

Each year at Mayberry Days in Mount Airy, NC fans have a chance to attend Professor Brower's Lecture. Neal Brower works his heart out each year to provide Mayberry fans a memorable and special time visiting with those who have touched our lives though The Andy Griffith Show. In September 2010 Neal's guests were Jim Clark and Ken Beck.

Jim Clark is the "Presiding Goober" and one of the founding members of The Andy Griffith Show Rerun Watchers Club (TAGSRWC).

Ken Beck is a journalist who worked for "The Tennessean" where he edited the "Sunday Showcase" until he stepped away from his 31 years with the Nashville, TN paper.

Together Beck & Clark have touched Mayberry fans everywhere with their books about The Andy Griffith Show. I know you'll enjoy hearing from them as "Professor" Brower draws wonderful information from them.

Neal, of course, has a wonderful book of his own called "Mayberry 101" that you will not want to miss. Neal was the focus of two episodes of this podcast so after you finish listening to him interview Beck & Clark, head back to episodes 50, 51, and 52 to hear his story.

Frances Bavier is known to everybody as Aunt Bee from our home town of Mayberry, NC. In 1972 Frances retired from acting and moved to Siler City, NC. Ms. Bavier was a native of New York so when asked why she choose to retire to Siler City she said, "I fell in love with North Carolina, all the pretty roads and the trees."

In this episode of Two Chairs No Waiting we'll hear from Carolina Camera reporter Bill Ballard who was able to interview Frances Bavier not too long after she had moved to North Carolina.

Andy Griffith addressed the fact that the two sometimes clashed during the series' run. Andy reported on Larry King Live - April 24, 1998, that Frances had phoned him four months before she died. She said she was deeply sorry for being "difficult" during the series' run.

Frances was born December 14, 1902 and passed away on December 6, 1989 at the age of 86.

Mayberry fans know that 411 Elm Street is the addresses given for where Barney Fife lives. Well, in this episode we'll have some fun and learn some history of these here United States in the process.

The shooting of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas changed America's innocence. People stopped what they were doing and mourned for days over the news of the shooting.

Popular TV programs like "The Andy Griffith Show" stopped filming for days.

"My Fair Ernest T. Bass" was the episode being filmed the week President Kennedy was assassinated. What an amazing tribute to the actors that the episode shows no signs of sadness from that event.

How can I tie Mayberry to this historical event? You'll have to listen to the podcast to find out.

Episode of Two Chairs No Waiting is the third of our four part interview with George Lindsey . Continued with comments about my meeting Mr. Lindsey for the second time at a bookstore only about 5 days after my first meeting with him.

This is part 3 of a four part interview with George Lindsey.

- Notes on Interview Part 3
* George talks about areas of his carrier other than TAGS
* George taught school in Hazel Green, AL
* In TV you were expected to know your lines and be on-time
* Andy threw "Goober" in the lake.

The "Lake" George was thrown in was known as "Tarzan" lake where they filmed the Johnny Weissmuller Tarzan films of the 1940's.
* Located across Ballona Creek from the main 40 Acres backlot was a small jungle and lake set which was prominently featured in RKO's Tarzan films of the 1940's (from The Andy Griffith Show)

Thank you for coming back for our second episode of Two Chairs No Waiting where we continue with the second of our four part interview with George Lindsey . I reported last time that the interview was done in Jim Clark's living room but I mistakenly left out the fact that my wonderful wife Jan was there in the room with George, Jim, Kenneth and myself. It *was* ten years ago and I couldn't remember exactly who was there but she knew....you could tell by the way she was looking at me....she knew she was the one.....the one I left out of my list. Kind'a reminded me of "Ole Sam" the way she was looking at me.

This is part 2 of a four part interview with George Lindsey.
