Two Chairs No Waiting 251: Betty Lynn Interview Part 2

Two Chairs No Waiting

Two Chairs No Waiting

Host: Allan Newsome
Running time: 0:24.10

This episode we conclude our wonderful interview with Betty “Thelma Lou” Lynn as we hear more from her about her amazing career before The Andy Griffith Show.  We also get to hear a bit about her time on TAGS and how much she enjoyed her time on the show.

There is a great story about spending a Halloween evening sitting with Margaret Hamilton reading ghost stories.  I’m sure you’ll remember the BIG role that Margaret played on a little film called “The Wizard of Oz” but if not you’ll know by the time this episode ends.  Another highlight is Betty talking about teaching a dance step to Marilyn Monroe.  There are so many things you will not want to miss so start listening.

I thoroughly enjoyed the two Betty Lynn interviews. She’s such a sweetheart. I loved her on the AGS. She had the sweetest smile on that pretty face. She was perfect for Barney and for the part. I used to envy Barney for having such a beautiful, charming, sweet girlfriend. haha.
I’m a new listener here, but a huge fan of the AGS since it first aired. I, too, envied the relationship between Andy and Opie. I had nothing like that with my dad and some of the episodes still make me cry because they’re so beautiful and touching. Now, with Ron Howard’s career so amazing and successful, I feel a sense of pride for his accomplishments, as if I was a member of the family! haha. But, that’s the way I always felt with the show. It was a wonderful show, surely in the top three of all time. I wanted so bad to be a part of that community as I’m sure millions of other Americans did. When Andy and Barney sang on the porch in the evenings, I smiled and wanted so bad to be there. Even now, writing this, my eyes begin to water. God bless Betty Lynn, Andy, Opie, Barney and everybody involved with bringing that wonderful show to my heart.
Thank you for these podcasts. I will be listening to them all.

I really enjoy these interviews as well as all of the Podcasts! Thank you for doing them and sharing with us. These are real treasures that we could get no where else! Just for fun I looked up Betty’s credits on IMDB and it shows all of the productions that she was in including the 26 episodes of TAGS.
