On July 1, 2023, the Mayberry Man movie became FREE to stream on several platforms to include Tubi, EncourageTV (YouTube), Amazon Prime, Vudu, Hoopla, Emirates Airlines, and Qatar Airways. There may be other ways you can watch for free but that’s a fairly large selection. Since it’s now free for ALL to see, I feel safe moving forward to talk about the movie and some of what we experienced behind the scenes.

I want to give folks a chance to see it since I’ve been hearing from many people who only recently watched the movie. It’s been really wonderful to get feedback from people that said they hadn’t planned on watching Mayberry Man, or they didn’t think it would be a good movie, and being told him how much they’d enjoyed it. Those are the comments I’ve enjoyed the most.

I’m glad they watched it and gave it a chance.

They went into it with an open mind and then took the time to message me to let me know what they thought about it.

If everyone that may have had negative thoughts about the movie takes a chance and watches it, I think a folks would change their negative thoughts to positive ones. I think they might see what many have seen when we watched Mayberry Man….that Mayberry is not just a place, it’s a state of mind….and this movie does it’s best to capture that feeling.

Stick around and we’ll play some trivia, too.

TCNW 734: Mayberry in My Mailbox

Two Chairs No Waiting
Two Chairs No Waiting

Host: Allan Newsome
Running time: 0:33:30

This past week I went out to my mailbox and what a wonderful surprise I found in there. Someone had placed a copy of the Weekend section The Huntsville Times from Friday December 17, 2021 in there featuring the coverstory ‘“The Andy Griffith Show” inspires new film starring Alabama Man.‘ When I asked my wife, Jan, if someone had mentioned they were dropping off a copy of the article for us she said nobody had mentioned it to her.

How nice that someone would hold onto a paper for almost a year and a half only to gift it to me. That really means a lot and it truely is a “Mayberry” thing to have done.

As you may have guessed, the article is about the Mayberry Man movie and it’s a good one so I thought it would be something you folks might enjoy.

On May 23, 2023, Rik Roberts and I will be attending the International Christian Visual Media (ICVM): 50th Annual Crown Awards where Mayberry Man is finalists for Best Comedy.

Following the premier of Mayberry Man on September 4, 2021, I was able to stay around the town of Danville, IN and watch the movie a second time with the crew & volunteers. Just after that showing, I was invited to be on the “Mayberry Man Podcast” hosted by Anderson Howell.

Anderson is the son of Cort Howell and grandson of Dud Wash himself, Hoke Howell. They gave me permission to use my interview here on Two Chairs. I want to encourage you to go to https://YouTube.com/mayberryman to see this interview as well as others as Anderson will be talking to folks and getting their thoughts about Mayberry Man.

If I haven’t bored you with all my discussion of the “new” Mayberry movies, stick around to the end of the episode and you can see “Floyd” arrive on the red carpet.

This week’s installment of This Week in Mayberry History by Randy Turner featuring “Roy Barcroft.”

What a week we just wrapped up. On Tuesday August 31, 2021 The Mayberry Effect film was released on streaming services for purchase. Then on Saturday September 4, 2021 the Mayberry Man movie began it’s release with a VIP Red Carpet showing for backers of the film.

We’ve been hoping to have ways to reach folks and let them know there are things still happening in the world of The Andy Griffith Show and these films go a long way toward bringing new fans into our community. It’s BIG!

I saw both films and I can say I thinks both are wonderful. They both complement one another and I encourage you to see them if you have an opportunity.

This week’s installment of This Week in Mayberry History by Randy Turner featuring “Jonathan Hole” part 4.

Burke on Mayberry

In this season five, “The Andy Griffith Show” episode entitled, ‘Three Wishes for Opie,’ which originally aired December 21, 1964, Barney summons Count Ist Van Telecky!

The Mayberry Man movie is just about to be released and it’s kind of amazing to me how many fans of The Andy Griffith Show still believe the movie is some type of remake of the series. As the title of this episode states, it is not a remake. This past weekend I spent a good deal of time on different social media sites talking with fans and trying to help them understand that the movie was made for Mayberry fans by Mayberry fans.

There’s no big “Hollywood” studio behind the movie precisely to avoid the filmmaker being told what could or could not be in the movie. Mayberry Man does its best to capture the spirit of what made The Andy Griffith Show so special. It doesn’t try to be a remake but rather tries to bring that feeling back to the viewer by telling a new story with roots in Mayberry. I hope fans will give it a chance.

We’ll also hear a poem from Ronnie Felker called “Floyd’s Barbershop” that I think you’ll enjoy. Ronnie is a Barney Fife tribute artist out of South Carolina.

TCNW 627: Mayberry Man Movie Update

Two Chairs No Waiting
Two Chairs No Waiting

Host: Allan Newsome
Running time: 0:40:16

Wouldn’t it be great to spend a week in Mayberry? What if you weren’t a fan of The Andy Griffith Show? Would you still enjoy spending a week in Mayberry then? Well, the Mayberry Man movie is about just such a person, a non-Andy fan who is made to spend a week at a Mayberry event and forced to deal with all the tribute artist as they bring Mayberry to life.

This episode will give you an update on what’s going on with the movie and when you might be able to see it. Not only that, but we have the official trailer (so you may want to watch the video version of this episode of Two Chairs).

We’re also playing a little Mayberry trivia that I believe will be fun and you’ll have a good time.

This week’s installment of This Week in Mayberry History by Randy Turner featuring “Sheldon Leonard” Part 5.
