Aunt Bee Taylor (Frances Bavier) lives up to her name. (Beatrice, she is told, means "she who makes happy" in Latin). Indeed, with the exception of her homemade pickles (kerosene cucumbers"), her cooking brings smiles to faces all over Mayberry.
Over the years, she is courted by a variety of suitors-ranging from a retired congressman to a traveling handyman. Her best friend, and sometimes rival, is Clara Edwards Johnson. Together they can keep Mayberry quite stirred up. Most of all, though, Aunt Bee provides a happy home for Andy and Opie.
