One of Opie's clubs is the Wildcats, where Opie is the Keeper of the Flame. (That's the fella who is responsible for the Sacred Candle). The club is a big secret. Any member who tells about it is threatened with the Curse of the Claw.
Opie's flame-keeping duties almost get him in trouble when moonshiner Jubal Foster burns down his barn ("The Keeper of the Flame," Episode #46). Everyone thinks Opie burned the barn until Barney staggers to solve the case. Nevertheless, Opie transforms his duties and becomes Keeper of the Flashlight.
