Cleaning the entire Darling cabin was bad enough, but Aunt Bee's stern guidelines for table manners (not to mention the direct hits from her wooden spoon) soon make Briscoe a beaten man. "To be perfectly honest," he says of the romance, it just ain't worth the pain."
