July 03, 2012 : Statement From Jim Clark, Co-Founder and Presiding Goober Emeritus of "The Andy Griffith Show" Rerun Watchers Club:

"As it is for so many others today, my sense of loss is beyond words. Andy Griffith has been an icon for me for my entire life. I was born in North Carolina in 1960, the year “The Andy Griffith Show” began. I have no memory of a time without Andy Griffith. Through the years, it has been a true blessing in my life that Andy and I became friends. It continues to be an extraordinary honor to have known him. The legacy he has left the world with his works in entertainment and the arts and in philanthropy is incalculable. We’ve lost one of our giants, a true American legend, and a good person.

On a personal level, I will always remember and cherish Andy’s kindness, generosity, and friendship to me. My heart and prayers go out to Cindi Griffith and his other family members and his close circle of good friends during this sad and difficult time."

July 03, 2012 : Andy Griffith brought so much joy, laughter, smiles, and more into my existence that I don't know where to start. I have met friend from all around the country and been a part of something that would never have existed had Andy not created "my hometown" of Mayberry. Thank you, Andy, for all the wonderful things you brought into my life.

I can't help but visualize "Barney," "Goober," "Floyd," "Otis," and the others who when on before him standing there at the gates of heaven with fishing poles in their hands. "Barney" reaching out to Andy when he arrived and saying, "We've been waiting for you....."

God bless you, Andy, for the blessing you have given to all of us.

--Allan Newsome

July 04, 2012 : I do not know where to start but to say thank you, Andy, You give me a quiet little place to escape to. In a town where there is not trouble, everyone loves one another and everyone knows your name. I will be ever glad for all the blessings you bestowed into our lives. God bless you ands to all who read this...... Erin

July 04, 2012 : Rest in Peace - Andy, you will be missed. Say "hey" to Goob, Sheriff Taylor!

July 04, 2012 : Sad day..
I still watch it and cant help but think how things have changed over time, not always for the better.
It woud be nice if I could find a Mayberry for my kids to grow up in..

RIP Andy Griffith.

July 04, 2012 : My dream of meeting Mr. Griffith vanished today. I watch TAGS and Matlock religiously in Costa Rica. Eventhough I am only 33 years old, we had the shows down there and watched them. Now that I live here in USA, I had hoped to one day go to Roanoke Island and just shake this incredible man's hand. I told my wife that it feels like a part of my childhood died. Oddly enough, I just bought the full series of TAGS and we are in the middle of a marathon.

Rest in peace Me. Griffith. I will see you ion heaven some day. To his family, receive our deepest condolences and prayers.

July 04, 2012 : Thinking back, I first caught wind of The Andy Griffith Show somewhere in the late 60's, and its been a part of my life since. The show, its characters, and the positive wholesome values the storylines gave us. Truly, television at its finest. Andy Griffith has given me not only enjoyment, but also a sense of well-being and directions in life that helped to keep me grounded and on the right track. To think, all of that from a half-hour television series!
Thank you very very much, Andy!

-- A.Acevedo (MPk., Ca.)

July 04, 2012 : Its been a long time since I was in these parts, but I had to come by today to pay my respects.

May God Bless Andy Griffith. He brought so much joy into all of our hearts. My and I know your lives have been greatly enhanced by the life of this man. He was funny, caring, real, and it is fitting that he pass on the day before the 4th of July, because there was no one more All American than Andy Griffith.

Hey to all my friends who are still here, especially Allan Newsome, who brought back such wonderful memories for us all.

Andy continues to live on in our hearts. And will forever. I miss you guys.

Uncle Joe joeybabe25@gmail.com

July 04, 2012 : Andy, blessings on you as you go on to paradise.

July 04, 2012 : Thank You Andy. You touched so many of us with lessons on love, life, doing what's right, and giving back. I remember being a small boy sitting on the floor watching that black and white screen, laughing and hearing my family laugh along with you, Barney, Aunt Bee, Opie, Floyd, Otis, Gomer, Goober, and all the rest. Those memories are forever. Over the coming years you'll continue to be a comfort and inspiration to millions more yet to be born. The Andy Griffith Show will never pass away. God Bless You.

July 04, 2012 : Here is a prime example that truly great and enduring entertainment can be accomplished without nudity, profanity! Only wish more producers would follow Andy's example! He will truly be missed! See U later, Andy! For I, too, plan to make Heaven my eternal home!

July 04, 2012 : Watching the show as a boy & laughing with my Daddy...there were tearful moments in episodes, too. From his downhome humor to strong baritone voice to movie roles, Andy Griffith has left a sweet legacy.

July 04, 2012 : Love Andy Griffith.

July 04, 2012 : Jazmine loves Andy Griffith.

July 04, 2012 : Andy Griffith was a part of my life growing up and even now. I watch the Andy Griffith Show on DVD's one night each week. His passing is a huge loss. He will be missed, say hey to Floyd, Goober and Barney. Say Hey to Lucille Ball for me too.

July 04, 2012 : My kids grew up on Andy Griffith...this was purposeful on our part...the show offered laughs, morality, goodness, and overall wholesomeness. Thank you, Andy...we will miss you!

July 04, 2012 : We shall meet, but we shall miss him.
There will be one vacant chair.
We shall linger to caress him;
As we breathe our evening prayer.

Goodbye Andy Griffith

July 04, 2012 : I wouldn't be disappointed if heaven is living Mayberry. Barney and Andy back in the squad car. Lunches at the diner... God speed, dear Andy!! I hope Aunt Bee made an apple pie for you. I hear there's a double feature at The Grand tonight. Hugs!!!

July 04, 2012 : A bit of my heart died with Andy. I've been watching for 50 years and will continue until my time is up. I would guess conseervatively I've probably seen every episode at least a couple of dozen times and its humor still resonates. God bless Andy Griffith and his family and thank you for a life time of joy.

July 04, 2012 : Will miss you Andy!

July 04, 2012 : I will miss Andy Griffith. I love him in The Andy Griffith Show and Matlock. He is with his best friend Don Knotts now. I miss them both

July 04, 2012 : I wish I could have met him.

July 04, 2012 : I wish I could have met Andy.

July 04, 2012 : Our family, my brother late sister and I would recite Andy Grifith show trivia. My sister would tell my brother and I we had to much time on our hands. The trivia will last as will the memory of Mayberry and Andy and the gang

July 04, 2012 : Maybe now Andy Griffith will truly comprehend the overwhelming positive impact he had on millions of people. People loved "The Andy Griffith Show" because it offered hope in an unsure and sometimes lonely world. Once a good friend asked me where I would like to go if I could pick one place in the whole world. I, of course, said Mayberry. May his family and friends take comfort with all the love and comfort he left behind.

July 04, 2012 : Mayberry is where I want to spend the rest of my days because of Andy.

RIP

July 04, 2012 : I wish I could have visited the fictional world of The Andy Griffith Show for one memorable week and spent time with every character on that timeless show.RIP Andy.

July 04, 2012 : The best straight man Deputy Fife ever had is with him again.
RIP Andy, we love you.

July 04, 2012 : Mayberry is where I want to spend the rest of my days because of Andy. It is a reminder of when times were simple. RIP Sheriff Taylor. You are reunited with Barney Fife and if there is a "Mayberry" in heaven, I know that you and Barney are on patrol for all eternity. Thanks for the memories.

July 04, 2012 : RIP ANDY. THE BEST TV DAD OF ALL TIME.

July 04, 2012 : Andy man be gone from this mortal world, but he will live forever in his work.

July 04, 2012 : I have always loved watching The Andy Griffith Show but in 2009 when I lost my wife and mother, watching Andy calmed me and I was able to forget my worries and sorrows for an half hour. For this I will always be grateful. RIP Andy

July 04, 2012 : You made a movie once called The Gift Of Love and rest assured you were a Gift of Love to the world!

July 04, 2012 : I will keep forever the picture of me taken next to the statue of you and Opie in front of the Andy Griffith Playhouse in Mt. Airy in 2009.

I imagine that I am the third person strolling down to the old fishing hole with Andy and Opie.

July 04, 2012 : Can somebody please tell me the address or link to make a donation to Andy and Cindy's scholarship at UNC Chapel Hill? Or conservatory?

RIP, Andy, you were my "imaginary" Dad when mine died at a very young age.

July 04, 2012 : Andy was the heart and soul of so many good things in his life and is a great example for all. The Andy Griffith show remains my favorite for the subtle life lessons the characters taught each other. With Andy's passing, I am reminded of one episode (Wedding Bells for Aunt Bee) where Andy told Aunt Bee, "Among folks that love each other, like we do, nothing can be best for us, unless it is best for you." I will miss Andy immensely. Ross Jorgensen

July 04, 2012 : Andy, you were the Dad and man that we small town kids could look up to and aspire to be in real life. I,and we, will miss you dearly! I'm a grown man with tears in my eyes right now. Thank you for all you've done in your wonderful life! Rest easy now with your fishin pole in Heaven! Say Hi to Barney and Goober and the rest!

July 04, 2012 : I like what Andy said in one interview I heard, he said "Mayberry really was home to those of us were there"...Since a kid growing up watching the first runs of the show every week, I have never lost my love for the show and its characters. There has never been another show like it nor will there ever be...it was simply a masterpiece, every episode was like a short movie. Timeless and Classic. I have always had a high respect for Andy and for the work he did, he has left us all with great memories and I will continue to watch the show on my DVD's and reruns like I always have, it never gets old to me. Thanks Andy and my prayers are with your family, you will be remembered....Tim Bradshaw (Mr McBeevee)

July 04, 2012 : I miss living in Manteo ,NC and Mothers Vineyard where Andy Lived.I had the pleasure of meeting him at the Grocery Store in1985 when I worked in Wanchese at Davis Yachts.I would like to share my sincere Condolences to the Griffith Family ,Charlie Duzan

July 04, 2012 : We were all blessed to have such great role models as Andy Griffith (Andy Taylor). I never get tired of watching the comic/drama genius of that show. Thanks for the memories! God bless Andys wife and circle of friends. RIP

July 04, 2012 : It was the greatest TV show the world has ever watched. Thank you Mr. Griffith.

July 04, 2012 : July 4, 2012: Andy was a great example for many, as a youngster when the Andy Griffith show aired..fun to watch. Being in law enforcement for 30 years, his example of patience was worthwhile. God Bless you in heaven Andy!-Rez

July 04, 2012 : I grew up watching the Andy Griffith show and I still watch it today. Andy was a master at mixing clean comedy that was very funny and yet at the same time his show often had a moral lesson about how to love and respect others. He was a great role model. Mark Gammill

July 04, 2012 : Mayberry Days will seem different this year 3 stars have left us in a little over a month.
RIP GEORGE,DOUG, and ANDY

July 04, 2012 : I was at work yesterday morning when I got the email from my sister; "Andy Griffith died" was all it said. She didn't have to say anything else. In our home, Andy Griffith was not just a TV star; he was a family friend. For me, growing up in a very dysfunctional home, Andy was the kind, wise, funny, loving dad that I longed for. Even now, in an America that is changing at breakneck speed (not for the better, imho), Mayberry is an anchor; a reminder of what we once were (at least in our ideals), and what we could be again, if people just returned to wisdom, strength, courage, caring, and sense of humor. Although it isn't Scripturally correct, I'd like to think that somewhere in Heaven today, there is a bench in front of a courthouse, and Andy and Barney are sitting there, young and strong, laughing and catching up with each other. RIP, dear Andy. The tears on my pillow bespeak the pain that is in my heart.

July 04, 2012 : Andy will be missed greatly. He will be reunited with his best friend Don Knotts. Rest in peace Andy and Don and all the other cast members that are no longer with us.

July 04, 2012 : Just inside the Eastern Gate, Aunt Bee is heard saying, Time you are here, Andy! Supper is ready!

July 04, 2012 : At some point I came to the realization that the sadness I sometimes felt when watching Andy Griffith Show, the longing to be a part of a place like Mayberry, the sorrow with the departing of each cast member, is really the sadness of what America once was and what America has now become. On the other hand there is the joy and hope of faith in Jesus Christ. Sad to see you go Andy, but your faith in Christ has provided you the eternal life you now enjoy in His presence.

July 04, 2012 : When Life turns crazy and just so hectic, I find myself "revisiting" Mayberry, my other "hometown". I always
wished I could have met "Andy". He was my favorite character,
reminding me of my own Dad. I am truly sorry for your loss, Cindi, and you and your family will be in my prayers. May you
rest in peace, Andy, in the comforting arms of Our Lord.
A longtime Tampa fan

July 04, 2012 : Thank you AG for so many happy memories.

July 04, 2012 : The Andy Griffith Show has always been (and will continue to be) my FAVORITE show! The world needs more Mayberry and less Jersery Shores! Rest in peace, Andy!

July 04, 2012 : What a sad day in Mayberry. Andy will live in our hearts forever.

July 04, 2012 : I loved Andy's shows as much as possible, like the rest of us,I'll miss him so much,I think he was one of the best tv stars, always had the answer for any stuition, loved all of his shows, didn't like the Warren shows,As I understand,no body liked him.My condoles to the family

July 04, 2012 : A merry heart doeth good like a medicine.... Proverbs 17:22 The Andy Griffith Show is my medicine. It just makes me happy! Our loss is Heaven's gain. I love you Andy Griffith, rest in peace!

July 04, 2012 : With Andy Griffith's passing I feel as though I've lost a good friend. I am a child of the 50's and grew up in a small town. Even though as an adult I moved on to the big city Andy and Mayberry will forever be a real place and a real time in my heart.

July 04, 2012 : The passing of Andy Griffith is a loss to us all; his family, his friends, his fans and America. Perhaps the finest legacy Mr. Griffith left to us was the humanity that was portrayed on The Andy Griffith Show. The sort of human goodness and kindness that we are all capable of. He made us laugh, made us cry, but most importantly he made us wiser with a greater sense of our own humanity.

July 04, 2012 : I started waching Andy whern I was a teenage. I also wacth the rerun. Until my work keap me from seening them. I do not know if they steal show them. I also love hearing him sing those gosple song. My prayer are going out the family. I well seeing hin on tv.

July 04, 2012 : I've been a faithful viewer of this show for over 50 years. It's one of the shows in my queue on Netflix.

It's been a bad month for CBS comedy stars of yesteryear: In the past 32 days, we've lost Richard Dawson (Hogan's Heroes) Frank Cady (Green Acres and Petticoat Junction), Doris Singleton (I Love Lucy), Don Grady (My Three Sons), and now Andy Griffith himself, not long after George Lindsey.

Mr. Griffith was and is an icon of early television and of what entertainment should be about. He made us laugh and feel good, while teaching us life's values. I won't say that his presence will be missed because he is and always will be present in our minds and hearts, and in the minds in hearts of generations to come, through the mediums of The Andy Griffith Show and Matlock.

July 04, 2012 : The streets of heaven are secure today. Andy and Barn are together on patrol again. And in our hearts, all of the good people of Mayberry will live forever.

July 04, 2012 : My favorite line from The Andy Griffith Show was by Andy himself, when Goober dragged Andy over to the diner to meet the new waitress,Flora, whom Goober was gushing over with Flora exclaiming; Goober, you in here again a third time, and it isn't even noon yet'! prompting Andy to quip; ''I''LL BET IT SAYS GOOD BOY ON YOUR PLATE''!! PRICELESS!!! GOD HAS TRULY BLESSED ANDY,...save a place for us at the ol' fishin' hole...

July 04, 2012 : I actually cried this morning at the loss of Andy. As I read the article to my visually impaired wife I started to cry again. Men are not supposed to do this but I did & I am quite proud of the fact that I was lucky enough to grow up watching the Andy Griifith Show. This was a time when television was decent! I also got on my knees to ask my Lord to take him into his tender loving care.
Larry

July 04, 2012 : I am still trying to deal with this loss. I was born in May, 1960, right before the show premiered. It has truly been a part of my life since day one. As has been the case for so many, this show helped me many times in my life. During the loss of my mother, and other times I just needed a taste of sanity, I could turn to Mayberry. I taught kids at my church, and used the Andy Griffith Show many times as a tool. I know the legacy will live on, and I personally will do everything I can to see to it that it does. All I can express now is gratitude for everything this show did for me. With Mayberry Love, Terry Loftis

July 04, 2012 : There's just not enough words to express my feelings right now. I'm just so very sad. He was the BEST and there will never be another like him.

July 04, 2012 : My wife Lisa and myself were in Mt. Airy NC 07/01/2012, for the first time. Andy Griffith's hometown is a real nice place. We raised our two daughters with small town thinking and Mayberry show helped us to do just that! You all know how hard things are now, and almost every nite we watch a rerun of the Andy Griffith show before going to bed. It sure does help put things into perspective for us. May God Bless Andy Griffith and his family and friends. Thank You Andy. Keith & lisa

July 04, 2012 : This cold world became even darker with the passing of our beloved Andy Griffith. I went from California to Mount Airy for Mayberry Days and was blessed to see Mr. Griffith speak as TV Land dedicated the bronze statue of Andy and Opie, fishing poles in hand. He closed by singing the Mayberry Union High fight song acapella. I'm still trying to find Mayberry to live out the rest of my life.

This world will never feel the same but I know Mr. Griffith heard those most precious words "Well done my good and faithful servant." I can't think of anyone more deserving.

July 04, 2012 : I have always respected and loved Andy Griffith he was a God loving family man and it showed and I feel as if I have lost a member of my family. I pray for his family as they go through this hard time. And I am thankful for his time on this earth. One of the best things we can leave behind is knowing we made a difference. I and sure he made a huge difference and this world is a better place for his having been here...

July 04, 2012 : From Bobby & Kyle Butler -
Any of us that were fortunate enough to recognize our own childhoods in "The Andy Griffith Show", realize just how blessed were are that Andy captured it for the world to see, and in doing so, sparked an enduring love we'd all share because of it, and drew together a tremendous circle of friends that would be born from it.
May God's abundant love and grace give strength to his family during this time and always.
We love you.

July 04, 2012 : I am forever grateful to have grown up watching Andy and friends on TV. What a great time to grow up during and I have tried to emulate my own life with some of that magic and innocence. He will be missed.

July 04, 2012 : Thank you Andy, and Rest in Peace. Gomer says "Hey". Jeff Godcharles and family

July 04, 2012 : America has lost one of its greatest comic actors in Andy Griffith, who brought smiles and chuckles to all of us by basically being himself. How refreshing that, as a personage in the entertainment industry, Andy was never the grist of "grocery store pulp magazines", but always was a true Gentleman on and off the screen. Who among us wouldn't love to spend a week, a year, or a lifetime in Mayberry with the likes of Andy, Bea, Barney, Floyd, Howard, Goober, and yes, even Otis? Now all departed, they were unassuming folks, ordinary people who were funny because they were real...just like most of us! Thanks for the wonderful entertainment memories; RIP Andy, and we'll see you down by "The 'Ol Fishin' Hole".

July 04, 2012 : Andy Griffith, an American icon, will be remembered every year we celebrate the 4th of July. What better day to remember Andy Griffith's memory than the day we feel the most American pride!

July 04, 2012 : It is truly sad to learn of Andy's passing. His body of work will always be with us, from the big screen to television. In TAGS, he and Sheldon Leonard and all the other talented writers and actors created something that will last forever.Godspeed Mr. Griffith

July 04, 2012 : Juky 04, 2012 : Andy, you gave so much of yourself to this world with your wonderful humor and strong character. We have so much to learn from you and I wish I could have met you. You will be missed tremendously but always will live in our hearts.

July 04, 2012 : The reason that Andy was so good at portraying the actor that he was suppose to be on the show was because that was the kind of person that he was everyday. It just came natural for him. He had his religion and beliefs and he wasn't afraid to express it. Good for you, Andy! May God bless you and your family.

July 04, 2012 : Prayers & Condolences to Cindy and the Griffith family. Andy was always my role model while raising my boys. Rest in Peace Ange.

July 04, 2012 : Sad day7 and year for TAGS fans, me being a huge fan.We have lost so many of the citizens of Mayberry over the years, but this year has been tougher than most as we lost George Lindsay,Doug Dillard, and now Andy Griffith. My condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Griffith.Heaven now has one more star shining over us.

July 04, 2012 : Because of Andy Griffith and Micheal Landon, I still call my dad "Pa." Wanted to be old fashioned back in the 1970s, and it stuck. Thanks , Pa!

July 04, 2012 : The world seems a little more empty today without Andy Griffith in it. The "Andy Griffith Show" has brought a great deal of joy and happiness into the lives of millions in the past 50 plus years and I count myself as "blessed" to have been in that number. "Thank You Andy" for your willingness to use your God-given gifts in a way that entertained so many and caused us to think about how to truly live. I hope you know how much you made a difference in the world. You will certainly be missed! May the memories we have of you continue to inspire us to live as you lived. If we can do that, what greater way is there to honor your life and celebrate your memory!

July 04, 2012 : Yesterday I heard that Andy Griffith had passed away. I could hardly believe it. My family and I watched the Andy Grifith Show without fail. We loved all the lovely people of Mayberry and we thought of them as our friends. My sincere condolences to his wife, family, and circle of friends. We will miss you, Andy. I was glad to hear that you are now in Heaven. I am going to be there too someday. Say "Hi" to Barney and everybody.

July 04, 2012 : Goodbye and god speed to one of the best friends and role models the state of North Carolina has ever known. We will truly miss you, but you leave behind the love and life lessons of Mayberry. Hopefully we can make you proud by living by them.

July 04, 2012 : My sincere condolances to your family on the loss of Andy.
As a child, I watched every episode of The Andy Griffith Show without fail and I still watch it today. Andy's character inspired me to want to be in Law Enforcement. Many years later, I did just that. Had it not been for Andy Griffith, I probably would not have gone after that dream and earned the right to wear that badge. Andy instilled values in my life and taught me to know the difference between right and wrong. Today's television shows just don't do that, in fact I think they do the opposite. Kids today see too much violence on television and carry that mindset with them into the world. Not all kids, but a great majority of them. It's really sad. The world is a better place because of Andy. He made your mark on a lot of people and I am one of them and for that, He will always have my respect.
May Andy Rest in Peace in the house of the Lord.
If anyone ever deserved it, Andy does !

July 04, 2012 : Thank you Andy for all the wonderful memories. I grew up watching The Andy Griffith Show with my dad and now I do the same with my daughters.
I have to admit, I got a little emotional when I heard the news and that's not typical for me. It really did feel like my family had lost a loved one. Andy and the rest of the Mayberry gang will always hold a special place in my heart.
Thanks again for the memories, Mr. Griffith.

Fearless I'd launch away." — I am Bound for the Promised Land

July 04, 2012 : I have watched this show since I was a child, as many do, and it is a fiber of my life. Good, moral, funny, and wholesome, something we do not have today. I will miss you Andy, and yet I know you have brought your gifts and shared them worldwide, Thank you for helping us to believe in a world that has no hatred. I shall continue to watch my DVDs and escape from the ugliness of the world I live in that has lost its way.
Rest in eternal peace. He gave us some time to forget our problems. Always we will remember Andy Griffith. An American icon of goodness.

July 04, 2012 : When the world gets to be too much, many of us climb into bed, close our eyes and visit Mayberry. May God bless you, Andy. Well done.

July 04, 2012 : I know that there are a lot of people who were involved the TAGS and yet with Andy passing it really feels like we lost someone special. I am grateful for what Andy did with the show.
As a school teacher for at-risk youth, I showed various episodes that were strong in regards to decision making and behavior. These tough kids really enjoyed the show and would go home to find the show on TV. I pray that I may still have an avenue to use the show to model and encourage other young people. I am very grateful that God has used Andy and the entire show to model and encourage people to live decent, moral lives. May Cindy experience God's comfort and grace and may the fellowship of other believers help her.

July 04, 2012 : Don't be sad, Andy sure isn't! He is in Glory and released from this earthly body into eternity. Although, I can say, that when I heard, I had more of a reaction to his death than I did to my own fathers..because Andy was more of a father to me than he was. Peace and strength through Jesus Christ to his family. Say hey to Goober for me :)

July 04, 2012 : I hated Mayberry. I grew up there. I couldn't wait to turn 18 and get out of my small NC town.
Now I'm 45 and back in "Mayberry", NC.

Andy would've said it best..."Sometimes you have to leave before you can come back home."

I'll miss you Sheriff Talyor.

July 04, 2012 : A remarkable talent with basic human values that were shared for all to see. Thanks Andy and may you have eternal peace and your family God's grace.
Inez of Greensboro, A Matlock fan!

July 04, 2012 : I have been told I adopted Andy's parenting skills. I take that as a supreme compliment. I have watched all 249 episodes in order two times in the last year... Starting numer three tonight. Thanks Andy for your gentle spirit. You were truly "a prince of a fellow".

July 04, 2012 : Cindy, I'm so sorry. Your husband provided so much strength in my faith and morals growing up, and still does today. My parents divorced when when I was around Opie's age, and I chose to live with my father, who was not the Andy we know. Fortunately God gave me a cousin who introduced me to "The Andy Griffith Show" (this was in the 70s) and I saw how a father should raise his kids. My wife and I have been married for 26 years; we have 3 daughters, and all 3 were out of town when we heard the sad news of Andy's passing. All three daughters were texting me to make sure I was alright. I cried like a baby yesterday. My wife and daughters have great memories to cherish (skipping rocks at Myer's Lake in CA, Spending a day in Mount Airy, and of course, a full set of memories from the DVDs and playing the trivia games. Quotes from the show are quoted NUMEROUS times each day. What a great Christian example he has provided for not only me and the four ladies in my family, but for EVERYONE. What a true and decent man!

July 04, 2012 : Thank you andy for your show and mayberry r.f.d.

July 04, 2012 : I felt as though Andy was my second Dad-he reminded me of my Dad, in looks and personality. I'm sad, but happy at the same time, as our friend has gone home and maybe my Dad was there to greet him. Thank you, Mr Griffith, for a life well lived in love.

July 04, 2012 : I never realized so many people enjoyed The Andy Griffith Show as I did. I am sitting here with tears in my eyes just reading these comments. Thank you so much Andy for the great memories and the way I have been influenced by the life principles from the show. Thanks again Andy!
Mike from North Carolina

July 04, 2012 : Wish I would have had a dad like Andy, RIP Andy!

July 04, 2012 : He made his start in the Broadway play (and later picture) "No Time For Sargents" and then in a great film about a radio star of the 50's, "A Face In The Crowd" (which was not about Arthur Godfrey...that film was "The Great Man", so they say). Also before his tv career, he was a nightclub comedian and a very funny recording artist (look for "What It Was, Was Football" on YouTube. You will bust a gut)!

He will be VERY much missed, and my condolences to his family and friends and his legions of fans worldwide.

He was an true original. We won't see anyone like him again.

RIP Sheriff.

Uncle Joe

July 04, 2012 : We have lost another one of our life's treasures but I know you are in a better place. Thank you Andy for the joy you have given to all of us. Rest in peace, friend. JC in MO

July 04, 2012 : I'm sure that yesterday morning there was a standing ovation in Heaven and things slowed down just a little to welcome home a Man that brought a lifetime of Joy to millions like myself. Thanks Andy, because I can find pleasure and meaning in just going down to the "Fillin" station for a bottle of pop or sittin on the front porch. I hope you will recognize each and every one of us that hold you dear when we too get called home and you come to greet us with a big smile and say,"Welcome to Mayberry!" David Benter

July 04, 2012 : July 4, 2012: I have lost my life long friend in "Andy Griffith". I must have watched every episode a hundred times or more. I never tire watching the show. I believe it is the best comedy program ever. I can remember my college days at UCLA in the early 70's when I should been hitting the books, my roommate and I would watch the back to back episode on KTTV. Now I have passed my love of the Andy Griffith Show on to my son. Thank you, Andy, for making my life better. Appreciate it! Lester

July 04, 2012 : Thanks Andy for all the laughs, They will never again be a show like the Andy Griffith show.I believe if we would go back to the life of Mayberry, we would all be better off, band concerts under the stars, ice cream at the drug store, Sunday naps, guitar playing on the front porch, even an old mountain wedding, I could go on and on,Thanks again Andy,Hope to meet you one day in our heavenly home, Charlie in South Carolina

July 04, 2012 : As a huge fan of the show which I still watch on a daily basis in Chicago I am so saddened by the loss of this great man. My wife and I are such great fans of the show we heard about a B&B in Clear Lake, Wisconsin and we went and spent one night there last Aug. We even stayed in Andy's bedroom. The hoiuse it self is a very close replica of the Taylor home. From the paintings on the wall to the television in the front room to the stone fireplace and even the stairway going upstairs. After we heard of Mr. Griffith's passing we called and made reservatiions again for next month. We are even talking about trying to get out to Mount Airy. Thank you Mr. Griffith for all of the great memories. RIP!

July 04, 2012 : As a child living with my grandparents, I watched the show when ever I could. We didn't have to much but my folks did what they could for me. Watching the show on my little black and white TV was the high point of my day. I learned many lessons from the Griffith show and even my children love the show. Andy Griffith, RIP and thank you for helping me get through when I was just a little guy. I will never forget you!

July 04, 2012 : To Andy, yesterday morning I cried when I heard the news. I grew up a big fan since I was 5 years old. Today I'm 24 and still a huge fan. I feel like I lost a family member! You have filled my life with entertainment, knowledge, and lots of smiles and laughter! I'm not just a fan of TAGS, I'm a fan of your career..and boy what a career!! Thanks Mr. Griffith for your hard work, your talents, your smile, and the stories of doing good you have left us with in your shows! It hurts to know your no longer on earth with us, but it's great to know you believed in Jesus and when the bells rung for you, you entered Heaven. Oh yall are having a goooooooooooood time in Heaven! I preciate you Andy and thanks for being so nice to me and giving me a memory to cherish when I met you in 2009!! From your friend in Alabama,Trey Miller

July 04, 2012 : I don't think there will ever be another show anything like the one that bore Andy's name and it will live on forever. He and Don Knots really gave us a gift that will always be on for us to enjoy. Rest In Peace Andy.

July 05, 2012 : Condolences to the Griffith family. Love the show. Still watch it, brings enjoyment for me. In a different time that is so different today.

July 05, 2012 : The world is a little bit of a darker place this evening. We have lost possibly the greatest single TV personality of the last 50 years; he said in an interview the other day that what made Mayberry different was that he wanted people to laugh WITH the townsfolk, not AT them. He succeeded; watch "The Beverly Hillbillies" or "Petticoat Junction" then just about any episode of Mayberry. Jethro and Granny were amusing, but you ALWAYS knew that Opie or Barney or the Sheriff would do the right thing and it would all come out all right in the end. No matter whether the classic B&W episodes or the later ones with Goober and Howard Sprague, The Andy Griffith Show is the single best program ever on TV, bar none. Well-written stories, easy to follow and understand characters and no need for continuity. Each episode stands alone as a true modern work of art. I had a hard time whistling "The Fishin' Hole" the other day, and people have told me in the past I am so good at it when they hear me they think Mayberry is coming on or going off.

July 05, 2012 : It's not often that a common citizen can almost imagine being related to a movie and TV celebrity but that's what it felt like to watch Andy Griffith all these years. He's was that favorite Uncle, the loving Dad or the funny Cousin all wrapped up in one person. Never will there be TV like we had with the Andy Griffith Show but thank God we have DVD's and tons of personal memories. We have been blessed living in the age where we enjoyed wholesome entertainment from Andy and the rest of the gang. Rest in peace Mr. Griffith. You have warmed out hearts and we are forever grateful for you.

July 05, 2012 : sending you my thoughts and prayers. thank you for sharing Andy with us over the years . he is alive and well in heaven and barney , otis and gooper were there with fishing poles . and aunt bee was there with his last supper and good apple pie . just remember when your days are sad and lonely that someday we all will meet them again in heaven . love and prayers to you now and always

July 05, 2012 :
From all of us who sit on "The Front Porch" of this wonderful website, we send our condolences and well-wishes to the Griffith family. Andy was one in 6 billion! He was such a good loving family man. Andy, we miss you so much, but we also THANK YOU for being you, and for being there for all of us!
God bless you and keep you! See you in heaven someday; and we hope that your "mansion" will be just like that home on Elm Street in Mayberry, NC, USA!

July 05, 2012 : Words cannot describe the loss we all share with the passing of Andy "Taylor" Griffith. I have and will continue to pray for you Cindi and Dixie and family. My father passed away back in 91 and we all enjoyed watching the Andy Griffith show together in the evenings when he would get home. My Dad reminded me of Andy and Andy reminded me of my Dad. Both taught me great lessons in life. Both my daughters love the Andy Griffith show. When they heard about Andy passing they both called me to make sure I was ok. Andy Griffith was family to all of us, not only here in NC, or the US but all over. They don't make shows like that today. I look forward to the day of being able to see Andy and the rest of the gang again in Heaven. I would one day like for me and my family to meet Cindi Griffith just to say thank you to her, just to pray with her, and let her know how her husband has touched our lives. Thank you Andy. I will always be wacthing the Andy Griffith show and as always learn something from it everytime. Remember when Opie said the cage is empty and Andy said but don't the trees seem full. There is emptiness now that Andy Griffith has passed away but Heaven is fuller now. Our lives are fuller because Andy Griffith used the talents God gave him to teach and influence our lives in a Godly way. God bless you Cindi and rest of the family and fans of Andy Griffith all around the world.

July 05, 2012 : My sincerest condolences to Cindi and all the rest of the family. I grew up watching Andy and all the gang. I was 2 yrs old when it premiered on TV but I watched it when I was old enough to understand TV and still do to this day.
I have all the episodes in my collection.
I had the great experience of seeing Andy in person at his statue dedication in Raleigh in 2003. It was such a great thing to actually see him. The Andy Griffith Show will live on forever. I have brought up my kids on the show and they enjoy it too.
We will miss you Andy!!

July 05, 2012 : at the court house today the flag flys at half staff.in memory of sheriff andy taylor who always made me laugh. mr David estep cleveland ohio.

July 05, 2012 : Thank you Andy Griffith for giving us a place called Mayberry. You and the town of Mayberry have been a part of my life for most of my life. I have learned many life lessons and gained life wisdom from watching you and the folks of Mayberry love, care and respect one another. You will be truly missed but it gives me great comfort in knowing you are watching out for us from above. rest in peace a true and faithful servant!

July 05, 2012 : Jim, I, like you have no words to adequately express my feelings with the loss of Andy Griffith. What joy he brought to the world for so many years. Although I never met him, because of him I have made some wonderful friends who are family to me, including Emmett and you. Bet he, Don Knotts and all the others who have passed are enjoying a real Mayberry reunion. Love and prayers to Cindi.

July 05, 2012 : Im 57 yrs old and watched Andy all my life.I went to Mt Airy about 5 yrs ago. It was one of the best vacations I ever had. My favorite show is man in a hurry. God bless Cindi and the family. Rick Price Rising Sun MD

July 05, 2012 : The Andy Griffith Show was probably my most favorite of all shows. I still watch the reruns and which we had more shows that taught good morals. To Andy's family my thoughts and prayers are with you and we can be assured that we will see Andy again. May God Always Be With You.

July 05, 2012 : I came from a severely broken home. I'd watch the Andy Griffith show and wished many a night that I was Opie or one of the other kids on the show who had a good home. Andy was the perfect example of a father, great example of how a man should be, very stable minded upstanding man and America cried the day he died. There will never be another like him.

July 05, 2012 : _
I thank God for Andy Griffith.

July 05, 2012 : "Cage sure looks awful empty don't it, Paw?" "Yes son, it sure does. But don't the trees seem nice and full." - RIP Ange

July 05, 2012 : There will never be a time in this world that will match what Andy and the Gang tried to instill upon us. The Andy Griffith Show was and will always be my "happy place" when feeling down. But it is nice to know that when my time comes, Heaven will be my Mayberry.
See ya in a while Guys!

July 05, 2012 : Losing Andy Griffith is like losing an old, dear friend. He was a special person and will never be forgotten. RIP. Sue

July 05, 2012 : I cried when I heard the news. "The Andy Griffith Show" is my all time favorite tv show, and I can quote dialogue with every episode. I never knew my father, but hoped that he would have been like Andy ..... kind, gentle, loving and understanding. The characters on that show were so believable, and there would always be a happy ending. Sheriff Taylor teased, but never belittled, the sometimes goofy characters he had to deal with. Ernest T comes to mind! I have my favorite episodes, and am thankful that we will be able to watch this series forever on some tv channel somewhere. Bless those who provide laughter in these troubling times. RIP, Andy.

July 05, 2012 : hi i rember wheni frist watched andy griffith show i was a young boy i loved watcing it andy griffith was a great guy and he was funny on the show he will be very missed . we love u andy griffith

July 05, 2012 : The Andy Griffith Show episodes never get stale because of the wonderful cast of actors, the gentle and funny stories, and a little town called Mayberry. Yesterday WGN in Chicago ran 8 Matlock episodes in a row & I watched most of them (stuck indoors due to 110 degree temperatures) and most of them had Don Knotts portraying Matlock's neighbor, Les. In one episode they recreated the hysterical "karate" demonstration. I wanted to laugh but couldn't due to huge lump in throat. I have Andy's comedy records, and gospel records, and the entire 8 years of Mayberry on DVD. Happy that I can listen and see this talented man and his friends whenever the mood strikes. Favorite moments in show frequently between Andy & Thelma Lou especially when discussing Barney's lack of singing talent. Cathie in Flint,Michigan

July 05, 2012 : I can see Don Knotts waiting for him as he passed through Heaven's gates.

Don: Hey Ange!
Andy: Well, Hey Don!
Don: You look great!
Andy: So do you. So do you!
(slight pause)
Don: Yeah...
Andy: Yeah....
Don and Andy side closed fist to each other's upper arm.
Don:Ya' son of a gun!
Andy: Son of a gun yourself!

And walking together, talking, as the gates close behind them.

July 05, 2012 : Andy Griffith wasn't just an actor. He was a "Good Ol' Boy",representing an era when families were strong, supportive and enjoyed the small things in life, home was really home (not just a place to hang your hat), a handshake was a binding agreement, morals were taught, and people actually appreciated and valued one another (not just the almighty dollar). RIP Andy...
