February 25, 2006 - Msg 20: I feel like I've lost a family member. Whenever I needed cheering up -- a sure-fire remedy was to put one of my Andy/Barney videos in the VCR. My wife complains that I've memorized each line of all of the Barney Fife episodes, whenever I say Barney's words before he does. For many of my 50 years, Barney/Don has brought me a certain measure of peace thru his movies and TV shows. I will miss him -- but he will live on film and in my memories. Thank you, Don, for the many wonderful memories.

February 25, 2006 - Msg 25: In the history of television, there has never been a better casting of actor to character than Don Knotts was to Barney Fife. Don's five Emmy Awards confirm that.

But, whether he was Barney Fife, Corporal John C. Brown, Mr. Limpet, or The Love God, Don Knotts was a consummate professional. He had impeccable timing -- the hallmark of a truly great comedian.

I will miss him dearly.

February 25, 2006 - Msg 27: Barney was my hero! - Big Easy

February 25, 2006 - Msg 28: I'm only 30, but I literally grew up on TAGS. I'm from the south and both of my parents grew up in a small town and were always reminded of it when watching TAGS because it was a lot like Mayberry. My father died in 1995 of lung cancer. During the 8 months he was sick we would sometimes watch TAGS, and it seems the only time my dad really smiled was when he was watching the antics of Barney Fife. Don Knotts was an important figure in my life, and even though he is no longer suffering and is now with God, it is unfortunate we have to live in this world now without this groundbreaking performer.

February 25, 2006 - Msg 29: Don Knotts was not only a fine actor, he was quite a fine gentleman. I had the pleasure of meeting him on four occasions. He was always very humble, generous with his time, and greeted me with his warm trademark smile.

There's a special place waiting for him in Heaven, and until I join him there, he'll have a special place in my heart.

February 25, 2006 - Msg 49: Don Knotts made my growing up years, in the 60's and early 70's, a whole lot nicer and enjoyable. As Barney Fife, he was able to make me laugh until I cried and that made me a fan of his for life. I liked all the people in the Andy Griffith Show, but Don "Barney" Knotts was someone very special. Although I never did get the chance to meet him in person, I felt as though I did know him by watching him for the past 35+ years in the many characters he played in the movies and on television. He will never be forgotten by me, and now that my 13 year old daughter is a TAGS fan, she will continue on with Don's memory and hopefully, pass the good thoughts to her own kids.

Rest in Peace, Don. (I love you, man!)

Sincerely,

February 25, 2006 - Msg 65: I just moved off from home to go to college and my daddy called me tonight and told me of Don Knotts passing. I never met him in person, but I grew up watching The Andy Griffith Show with my family and it truly feels like I have lost one of my family members. I will pray for his family and I pray he was saved and had his soul right with Jesus, because on that glorious day when satan is vanquished and we all walk hand in hand with the Father it will be worth all the trials and sufferings. God Bless you Don and thank you from the bottom of my heart and on behalf of my entire family for what you have taught us through the years and for what you and Andy will continue to teach us in reruns. With all of this said, the news of your passing still proves that in few situations like this, words are not enough and only silence will do.

February 25, 2006 - Msg 67: It was called The Andy Griffith Show.....and of course there was Andy, Opie, Aunt Bee, and the numerous other characters we came to know and love as they became a part of our lives...but the reality is we would not be blessed with re-runs four decades later and this very website would not exist without the character of one Bernard P. Fife played so flawlessly by Don Knotts. There perhaps never has nor ever will be a more perfect marriage of character and actor. Floyd, Otis, Aunt Bee, Ernest T, and Barney are all up there now...one can only imagine what kind of a reunion it must be!!! God gave Mr. Knotts a wonderful talent and we while we are saddened by his passing we also celebrate his life and the countless smiles that precious soul gave.------Brian Bentley

February 25, 2006 - Msg 77: I met Don several times over the years and considered him a friend. Don I wrote this for you:

Heavens now a little safer, because Barney is on patrol.
The pearly gates were open, and through them he did stroll
God has called him up to join him, to be there by his side
His heart is filled with laughter, that cannot be denied
A bullet in his pocket, a nightstick in his hand
He walks the streets of heaven, angels sing at his command
The world just seems so somber, so cold and full of strife
We need more towns like Mayberry, with Sheriff Taylor and Deputy Fife
You left us lots of memories, that we'll cherish on your behalf
But the one thing we'll remember most, is that you always made us laugh.

We'll miss you Don. God Bless You!

February 25, 2006 - Msg 85: The passing of Don Knotts brings about a sadness and a longing for a time in life when things were a lot simpler, wholesome and perhaps closer to the mythical, magical town of Mayberry. His comedic genius will continue to bring joy and laughter for generations to come through the perpetual airing of reruns. In a time when the world often seems bent on self destruction, it is good to kick back, let a warm gentle breeze carry the sounds of familiar voices and laughter our way.
