I feel blessed to have grown up watching Don Knotts. My Daddy passed away March 6 of last year and some how watching the Andy Griffith show makes me feel closer to him. Some of my fondest memories are of my Daddy and I laughing at Barney whether it be Barney behind the wheel of his first car or him issuing Otis a sobriety test. Mr. Knott's family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers. I think I will spend the day watching reruns......

A extremely talented actor that made you always feel that you were as much a part of the Mayberry experience as any member of the cast. TV today, as we know it, isn't nor will ever be the same. So sad to read the news this morning. I was just yesterday watching the episode where Opie finds $50, tells him he can keep it, then tells Barney he's going to have to take it back since the owner showed up. Barney goes into the back room to cry. What a wonderful character and a great actor.

My 2 favorite Barney episodes: when Andy & Helen get trapped in the cave & Barney rallys the town to save them and Barney instructs Opie in the art of romance and the helplessly watches as Opie falls in love with Thelma Lou. Don Knotts was the most famous person to come from the state of West Virginia. Being a West Virginia resident, I have always been proud of him. He has made me laugh more than any other person in the world. The relationship between Don and Andy was remarkable and is a testament to what it means to be a true friend, even at the end. For me, the two best "Barney" episodes are "Barney and the Choir" and "Barney Buys a Car". Thank you Don and God Bless You. Tom W., Charles Town, WV

Our Church small group just finished the Mayberry Bible Study last week. Each study started with an uninterupted episode of TAGS. This study has been a blessing on a number of levels and brought a sense of comfort and familiarity to our group that wasn't there in our previous studies. I attribute this to the honesty and pureness of the characters in Mayberry. Barney was the common link between all of us and the sweet innocence of our (less responsible) youth. We all connected to that time when we first saw Barney dressed in a Bridal Gown so they could catch Ernest T or Barney letting the Bank Robbers know what the Rules were "Here at the Rock". I would encourage anyone in a Bible Study to try out the Mayberry Bible Study as a tribute to Barney and how he has affected everyones life is some happy, healthy way.
Check your weapon at the door Barne, you won't be needing that bullit where you're goin.

Don:
You will forever be my hero! You proved to the world how a little skinny guy from West Virginia could become an immortal giant of humor and comedy on TV and in the movies. For 25 years I looked forward to watching your re-runs on TV each night after work. Somehow, it made the day complete. You were able to take many like me back to a time, in our minds and emaginations, when life was simple and innocent; to a time when we entertained ourselves without computers, gameboys, satellite tv, or cell phones. You showed us how a great time was spending the evening with Thelma Lou at the Mayberry Diner, watching a George Raft movie, or fishing on Myers Lake. You and Andy gave us laughs without crude putdowns, violence, or profanity. What was greatest about you, Don, was that you sacrificed you ego so that others might laugh at that in life that is most laughable and humorous---ourselves. You help give us all a safe haven to spend half an hour each day feeling good in a world that our "inner child" could thrive, laugh, and love.
Thank you, Don!

I am so sorry to hear the world have lost the GREATEST role model and probably best known fictional character to have ever existed. There will never be another one like Don Knotts. The characters and the work preformed on the show will live forever. It doesn't matter the situation, you can always find a solution to any problem by watching the Andy Griffith Show. It's timeless and each time I watch an episode it's like seeing it for the first time. Don, We hate to see you go but I know you made it to the Saturday night rehersal for Heavens choir. They have to be singin' good ole 14-A this morning. Oh! and Barn.., mingle around there and let us know who's singin' off key. The memory of your time here will never die. Thanks, Wayne Greensboro, N.C.

I was raised up watching The Andy Griffith Show -they were just part of our family you might say. Then as I got older, on Super Bowl Sunday - my dad and I did not look forward to the big game, but to the 12 hours or more of The Andy Griffith Show they would have on tv - that was our Super Bowl - and we did that until my dad's passing in 1994. So I know that on Friday night as Mr. Knotts passed into Heaven, my dad was there just waiting to greet him. Thank you Don Knotts for all the laughter you gave...it will live in our hearts forever.

Don will be missed by millions and millions who loved his work. I think that one of the networks should pay a tribute to one of the all time greats and have a Don Knotts marathon day. Show all of his movies, The Andy Griffith Show, and anything else they can get their hands on. It just seems right for some reason.
Good by Don, you were one of the great ones.

There was never a television show that I enjoyed(and still enjoy) more than the Andy Griffith Show, and never a character that I enjoyed more than Barney Fife.Noone could have played this role better than Don Knotts. No matter what character he played, Don always made us laugh, and temporarily forget our own, real-life, "bumps-in-the-road".For those of us in the Baby Boom generation, Don's passing is like losing a member of our own family.Don, thank you for the laughter. I along with every other fan of the Andy Grifith Show(and of you, in particular) will always remember you, particularly when we whistle the theme song from the show!

I was truly amazed at how much of a loss I felt yesterday when I learned of the passing of Don Knotts. Like so many, I think it was a reflection of just how much we cared for and enjoyed all that Mr. Knotts contributed to our lives and especially to our hearts. He will be missed even more than he is cherished every time he locks himself in the jail or "let's her go"--in reverse. And I for one, know I will be watching and laughing a little louder tonight when I throw in my favorite DVD collection. God Bless--and thank you Mr. Notts.

What a sad, sad day.I was dreading it,I knew it was coming and now that it's here, it hurts so deeply. We have definitely lost a close, close member of our family. My daughter, now 25, has been quoting Barney Fife since she was 4 years old. We live in far Western Ky., but guess what? She is getting married this summer and will be living with her new husband in, guess where-- Raleigh, NC. Like I told her, it didn't surprise me that that's where she would settle, as much as The Andy Griffith Show and all the people of Mayberry have been like our family. (But like I told them, stay away from that restaurant where all the waitresses wear peekaboo blouses) Now we have lost someone we love very, very much and I have cried off and on all day. The one thing that occurred to me when I heard this is Barney is finally being welcomed into a choir of millions and his voice is as beautiful as it could ever be. NO ONE will have to sing for him. And Don is at rest in the arms of his Father. Goodbye, old friend. Thank you for bringing such joy to me, my husband and my daughter. You will always live on in our homes and our hearts.

My only regret is never having the chance to meet Don and tell him what he meant to me. I hope I can meet Andy one day and share many wonderful stories. Andy and Barney, through my eyes, will always be the greatest comedians the world has ever known, and will know. I only hope I can make half the difference in people's lives as did this great duo, and I can't wait to meet them both in heaven one day. You will be loved forever Mr. Knotts by myself and many others for the rest of our lives. Your friends and family will be in my prayers.
