March 04, 2006 - Msg 2930: I think all these reactions shows how we can take this further....people who spend alot of time watching the andy griffith shows over all the other non value things out there in our faces.. these people have the mayberry prinicples and thinking.. and these people can come together to make a TRUE mayberry community....maybe at first online but then also find the right community that fits and go live amongst each other... make the town laws just like the shows laws...then it will be MAYBERRY... and this then we can tell our kids and grandkids to come and live and settle down... name the streets after the characters of the show.... barney-don knotts highway.... andy-andy griffith blvd. etc etc...NOW american really needs towns and people like this.... with the rerun watchers clubv .. we will have the people... and when these people come together in a town... then we will have mayberry town!!!3

March 05, 2006 - Msg 2979: What a joy it was to watch Don Knotts for all of these years. I am 49 and every time I saw his lovable character, Barney, on The Andy Griffith Show, I would always laugh . What an amazing gift that is to have a body of work that will be so loved by millions for generations to come. That takes unique talent to touch so many lives. What a legacy.

Having been born with a hearing loss and using a hearing aid , I always loved his speaking skills. Yet, I always appreciated the visuals even more. His silly faces during his crazy antics would just bring me such laughter. He had the amazing talent, through his facial expressions and wonderfully funny voice to make you laugh one minute and cry at the drop of a hat in the next. That is true talent. His heart truly did shine through his work.

In 2002, I totally lost my hearing for eight month. From December of 2002 until I had a successful cochlear ear implant in June of 2003, I can tell you that watching The Andy Griffith Show every day, with the closed captions was a blessing indeed. It cheered me up every day on TV Land. I still watch it faithfully each and every day.

The unique thing I learned during that time was you did not need to have hearing to totally appreciate the talents of Don Knotts.

I shall miss him dearly. Yet, with these episodes of The Andy Griffith Show, Three's Company, Matlock and the many movie roles he played, we will continue to enjoy his genius.


Weren't we lucky to have had him as a guest in our homes for all of these years? He may be gone but he will forever be in our hearts.

I can't count the number of tapes I have of the Andy Griffith Show with the commercials cut out. I put them in the VCR and let them play for hours. I hope TV Land plays more of TAGS in the future. It was a very sad day the day that he left us. He will never be forgotten. I have taught my two girls about the notorious "Barney Fife".
