March 24, 2006 - Msg 3683: Don Knotts you will be missed by your faimly and your fans. Barney Fife was the main reason that I watched The Andy Griffith show when I was a little girl. I now have the first five seasons on DVD for my children who of course adore the character Barney Fife. I will stop at season five because without Barney the show just wasn't funny.

March 24, 2006 - Msg 3687: Today is my 49th birthday. I thought about Barney, Andy, and Ernest T. at Mrs. Wiley's house...and it brought about a smile to my face and my heart. NO OTHER show could have done that. Barney declared "slim pickins" among the ladies at Mrs. Wileys. He told Andy they were all "dogs". He proceeded to tell Andy that "if you flew a quail through here, every woman in here would stop and point"! By far my favorite Barnism! Rest well my friend.

March 25, 2006 - Msg 3714: Thank you Don. Did you know you took the role of ME and every other man in the characters you played? You helped me to laugh at myself and to cherish that seed of courage in all men that ripens and seems to bud at the most inopportune times. March 25, 2006 - Msg 3718: My wife and I share the thoughts of losing "Barney" with millions. We will miss him and will never stop watching him on TV. There will never be another Barney Fife!

March 25, 2006 - Msg 3719: My heart is still heavy when I think of Don's passing. I've had alot of comedy favorites, including Jackie Gleason, Art Carney, Andy Griffith, etc. But, no one has continually made me laugh through my life like Don(Barney). I'm 57 years old, so I watched the show from its beginnings, and I have to be honest in saying that I think I laugh just as much or more every time I watch alot of Don's scenes. They simply stand up to the test of time. Yes, Jim I agree. The Barney Fife character is probably the most hilarious character of all-time on TV. Of course, you have to give alot of credit to the writers, and to the best straight guy in the business(who also was funny himself), Andy Griffith. Don, you will never be forgotten, and you will continue to make me laugh and live in my heart until, hopefully, I get to see you again in our greater reward. Say hello to Aunt Bee, Ernest T. Bass, and all the others for me, because there is no doubt where you are. I guess the Good Lord needed a good deputy. Thanks, Don, for everything. Love, Bill Nudo, Uniontown, PA.

March 25, 2006 - Msg 3720: Whenever you seen a movie poster or marquee with "Don Knotts" on it, you could be gaurnteed a fun time of entertainment. Thank God for Don, you truly made a difference in the hearts of many. cb

March 25, 2006 - Msg 3723: BARNEY FIFE WAS MY HERO AND THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER ACTOR THAT WILL COME CLOSE TO THE TALENT THAT HE HAD. I DON'T BELIEVE THAT ANY OTHER CHARACTER BESIDES DON KNOTTS COULD HAVE PLAYED THE PART AS WELL AS HE DID AND ANDY GRIFFITH WOULD HAVE TO ADMIT THAT BARNEY WAS THE BEST SIDEKICK IN THE HISTORY OF TELEVISION. I LOVED THE SHOW AND WATCHED IT EVERY CHANCE I HAD AND NOW I HAVE ALL THE COMPLETE 5 SEASONS AND SITLL LAUGH AND LOVE THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW. JEAN SMITH, CARROLLTON, GA

March 25, 2006 - Msg 3731: The TV world will truly never be the same with the passing of Don Knotts. Modern TV can't compete with the humor and morality The Andy Griffith Show portrayed. They showed us you could be funny without being vulgar, and that you could acutally be a better person by watching them and how they handled life. Barney, we'll miss you!

March 25, 2006 - Msg 3732: Don, you were and are a true inspiration to my life. Your talent and soul brought such a humanity to the Griffith Show. God" from the "Don Knotts Reluctant Hero Pack",

March 26, 2006 - Msg 3739: There is no other show like the Andy Griffith Show. It has woven its way into the fabric of my family and friends'lives. If we have one chance at something we say, "we've got Barney's bullet." Everything that must stop, must be "nipped in the bud."

March 26, 2006 - Msg 3740: Continued from msg 3739: and if we go out to eat we say, "want to go to Mt. Pilot for Chinese?" And if we are innocent and accused of something, it's "Huh, I just came in here for some foot powder!" I still get such indescribable joy from the show and the character of Barney since it first went on the air. What a talent Don Knotts was to have given such life to a character in a script! March 26, 2006 - Msg 3741: In a life that is often far too serious, there has always been the comedic relief valve of Barney Fife. All glory to God for the gift he gave to Don Knotts, and for allowing Don to share it with the world. It's...therapettic. :-) Terry MacAlmon

March 26, 2006 - Msg 3745: I been watching "The Andy Griffith Show" for over 30 years - since I was old enough to know about television. I've literally seen every episode dozens of times! Andy and Barney were my "back-up" fathers and Opie was the brother I never had. Today, I watch the show with my kids and they love it. I will never forget Don Knotts and his portrayal of perhaps the finest (most distintive) character ever to be seen on TV to date. Shows like "I Love Lucy", "Sanford and Son", "All In The Family", "The Cosby Show", "Seinfeld", "Friends", etc. were "good" shows but "The Andy Griffith Show" was the best and I doubt there will ever be an equal. JK - Atlanta, GA.

March 26, 2006 - Msg 3758: Barney touched our hearts because he tried so hard to cover up the fears and self-doubts we all live with. March 27, 2006 - Msg 3766: Don Knotts was like one of the family. It saddened me to hear of his death. I use many of his sayings at work such as "Six dollars a week and what have you got, heartaches, nothing but heartaches." He was a true television icon, and there will never be another Barney.

March 27, 2006 - Msg 3767: Through the years I have compared every new TV show I watch with AGS. They have all paled in comparison. That is mainly due to the greatness of Don Knotts. Thank you Don for all the laughs and the pleasure of watching your brilliance. You'll be missed.

March 27, 2006 - Msg 3768: you aint seen the last of ernest t bass but most of all we will never see the last of BERNARD P FIFE!MD

March 27, 2006 - Msg 3769: What a comfort to know all we have to do is turn on TAGS to see Don Knotts as Barney Fife and remember what a treasure we have in these re-runs. Bernard P. Fife (or is it Bernard M. Fife) is an American icon never to be duplicated. Whenever I'm sad or stressed I can be soothed by Don's fine acting and the ability to lift my spirits. My prayers are with his family and those who loved the man dearly. Don, can't wait to visit with you in the great beyond!

March 27, 2006 - Msg 3770: I feel so priviledged that not only did I grow up near to Don Knott's hometown of Morgantown, WV, but that I also got to meet him. Several years ago he appeared at a charity golf tournament near Morgantown--it was nicknamed the "Nip it in the Bud" golf classic. I stopped by to see if I could get to meet Don, and, sure enough, there he was. He was sitting at a table on a covered porch area of the resort all by himself. There was nobody else there at the time, so I was able to talk to him for several minutes and tell him what my favorite episode was. My kids, wife, and I also got our pictures taken with him and he autographed a book that I had purchased at Lowes homecenter put out by Quickrete that had his picture on the cover. I remember him to be such a soft-spoken and modest man. I have collected several things associated with Don, but- more importantly-I will be able to remember through all of his works. Rest in peace Don, you made the "Mountain State" proud.

You could be feeling down and watch a show of Andy Griffith or some of his other work and get a smile on your face. Thanks Don, or as we like to call him,(Barney). WE LOVE YOU.

March 28, 2006 - Msg 3783: Don was the basis for a very funny show that dealt with everyday problems in America. An icon, thats what he was. Because of his uncanny wit and forever using words and phrases wrong, every police force in the United States has a "Barney". That says it all.
Randy Sturgill, Chilhowie, Va.

March 28, 2006 - Msg 3786: When my family learned of Don's passing, we felt that we'd lost a member of our own family. The Andy Griffith Show, especially Barney, has been a very important part of our lives for many, many years. When our children were young, we watched TAGS every day while we ate lunch and we taped the episodes as well. Those videos got us through illness, boredom, rainy days, and times of "there's-nothing-on-TV". TAGS was and is one of the few shows that are clean, decent, and moral, and never fail to bring pleasant refreshment to the soul. To this day, we watch TAGS every evening and never tire of the innocent, gentle entertainment the people of Mayberry give us. Even now that our children are grown, we DAILY quote lines from TAGS to one another. TAGS, especially Barney, brings more joy and laughter to this family than anything else! We've hosted get togethers over the years in which the highlight of the evening was a rousing game of TAGS Trivia. Of course, we always won! Thanks, Don, for the joy you gave and will continue to give thanks to re-runs and taped episodes. Giraffes may be selfish, but you, Don, truly were THE CATS.

March 28, 2006 - Msg 3787: To Don's family,Don helped change and mold my life as a single dad, yes a single dad. We need to recognize single dad, would love to hear from them, It is not easy a mothers know.
My daughter was on Deans list high school and college. The Andy Griffin show helped us laugh through our problem and deal with. May God be with all the family, Andy and all who loved Don, or BARNEY. Wish I could drop Andy a note, even in Matlock with Barn. Love Hank Jayroe

March 28, 2006 - Msg 3788: DON WAS FUNNY IN THE ANDY GRIFFIN SHOW AS WELL AS IN HIS MOVIES, MY FAVORITE IS THE RELUTNT ARSTRONUT..THANKS FOR PUTTING A SMILE ON MY FACE AND YOU STILL WILL TILL I MEET YOU UP YONDER

March 28, 2006 - Msg 3789: Don Knotts was truly one of a kind. He made me laugh and helped me through some difficult times. Anytime I am feeling down all I have to do is pop in a DVD of "Barney" and it always lifts my spirits. I am from his hometown of Morgantown, WV and this past Saturday, I attended a memorial service held for him at his and my alma mater, Morgantown High School, where he first performed on stage. It was very sad, but I think it gave me closure also. I am so thankful that we have the reruns and DVD's so that he can live on and make us laugh. I love you Barney. Penny Kennedy

March 28, 2006 - Msg 3790: There will never be another Barney/Don! We started watching the Andy Griffith show from the very first one in 1960. And we always enjoyed seeing what Barney would do next. We will remember Don's family in our thoughts & prayers. Gail Arrowood, Durham NC

March 28, 2006 - Msg 3791: I remember a close up of Barney I saw on the show once. His hat was just slightly askew, and I remember thinking "if that hat were a little more tilted it would just be goofy, and if it were a little less crooked it would just be unfunny." but it was perfect. Hilarious. Thats how Don played Barney. Perfectly. Jim Ellis Flagstaff Az.

March 29, 2006 - Msg 3792: don knotts passing was a sad day. lets hope we
get to see him in heaven on day.His roles in
andy griffith show and movies such as the apple
dumbling gang and other movies were a real treasure. hope he had jesus in his life.

March 29, 2006 - Msg 3793: Don Knotts, what a man. I pray he gave his heart to Jesus so I will meet him in heaven one day. He played on a show that had very good morals. We need more men and shows like The Andy Griffith Show. Don was the "PERFECT" Barney. Thanks Don for your loving nature. God bless all of Mr. Don Knotts family on their loss.

March 29, 2006 - Msg 3794: Don Knotts made me laugh like no ther, he was awesome and I was deeply saddened when hearing of his passing away. God BLess.

March 29, 2006 - Msg 3795: Don knotts, what can I say. I knew him best as Barney, but feel that I as well as the rest of the world has lost much more than a television personality. We've lost a friend. I've felt something as we lost Floyd, played by Howard McNear, Aunt Bea played by Frances Baviar, Howard played by Jack Dodson and Floyd. But I really feel a loss when it comes to Don's character. He'll be greatly missed by many.

March 29, 2006 - Msg 3796: I remember watching the Andy Griffith Show when I was a youngster. Barney and Gomer were my two favorite characters of the show. Barney because he always seemed to be the "underdog" of lifes challenges and Gomer because of his childlike innocense. I was deeply saddened upon hearing about the Don's passing. We have truly lossed a great artist of his craft. Not having known Mr. Knotts personally it is my hope that he knew Jesus Christ as his personal savior and that I too will one day meet him in Heaven when my time comes.
The Andy Griffith Show was a good wholesome family show that tried very hard to teach good family values, something sadly lacking in today's tv programs and motion pictures. God bless you Don Knotts and see you later.

March 29, 2006 - Msg 3797: The good lord must've needed some security up above. Don't be too hard on 'em Barn. We're gonna

March 30, 2006 - Msg 3803: I wasn't born until the year 1978 so I really didn't learn to appreciate the time of the making of the show, but as I got older, I learned that the shows of yesteryear are sure better than the junk that is on now. I will sure miss Don Knotts. They sure don't make em like they used to! Thanks for giving me such laughter and fun in a world full of evil!

March 30, 2006 - Msg 3804: I grew up on the Andy Griffeth Show. I'm a police officer, and have come home many nights and watched Andy and Barney to wind down. March 30, 2006 - Msg 3812: I'm watching Andy Griffith as I'am writting this. It is the one where Barney comes back to Mayberry for his and Andy's highschool reunion. Barney is all excited to see his girl Thelma Lou, only to find out she is married. He gets all upset until another woman starts to flirt with him, and Thelma is just a distant memory. Barney will never be a distant memory! Thanks for sharing your self with us. It truly was an honor!

March 30, 2006 - Msg 3813: 'WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH 'THIRD PARTY'? IT'S NOT DIRTY...'

Don Knotts was truly one of the greatest comedic actors of this or any generation.
If such a place as Mayberry truly existed (and perhaps it does in Heaven)...I'd love to pay 'em a visit, just sitting around the porch, eating homemade ice cream and just 'shooting the breeze'...maybe sing a few versus of 'we shall meet, but we shall miss him...'

We'll miss ya, Don...

March 30, 2006 - Msg 3817: My Mother and I used to sit and watch the Andy Griffith Show together. My mother was a verhy shy person and surprised me one day when she said that she had written to the Andy Griffith Show because she had heard that they were thinking of taking the show off the air and she wanted the show to continue. She had never done anything like that before, nor did she do anything like that again. The show continued on the next season, and the next, and my Mom felt that she was a part of keeping wholesome, entertaining TV on the air. I have purchased all of the DVDs now on sale of all of the Andy Griffith Shows and sit and enjoy them again, just like I did when I was a teenager. Thanks Andy and Don for creating such memorable characters. Thanks, Mom, for helping to keep really great TV programming on the air.

April 04, 2006 - Msg 3842: Mr. Knotts will always be remembered as Barney Fife. Barney provided us with laughter on a rainy day, and therapy during are own struggles with life. When he sang, somehow we were right there in Mayberry trying to keep a straight face with the townfolk. When he lectured Opie or Andy or Gomer, somehow it felt like we were right there in the same room watching. I can still hear Gomer shouting out to Barney after Barney made a u-turn in the squad car, "citizen's arrest, citizens arrest!" and I still laugh whenever I remember the newspaper reporter who spelled Barney's last name "Fike," much to the dismay of Barney. Mayberry will live forever in the hearts and minds of those that learned to love the sleepy little town that made us fell as if it was our own. Thank you Barney Fike. (God bless you Mr. Knotts)

April 04, 2006 - Msg 3843: I used to laugh with my Father at you. I have passed that on to my own daughter today. As a 4th generation police officer, we can all still learn a lot from you and Andy. Thanks for all you did to make us laugh. Go with God
