Two Chairs No Waiting

Two Chairs No Waiting

Last week was about Don Knotts got his star on Hollywood Walk of Fame. This episode we get to hear bits of the audio from the luncheon held following the star ceremony.

We start off with John Ritter talking about seeing The Andy Griffith Show for the first time. Having gone to church with Andy, he enjoyed the show but recalls that Barney was the character that he loved.

Andy Griffith then speaks about his good friend Don Knotts. They have known one another since they were 30 years old. Andy says that the five years with Don on The Andy Griffith Show were the best years of his life.

Finally, Don  says, “Thank you” to all those that helped him get where he is. I can say, from all of us, THANK YOU Don Knotts.

The audio is a bit hard to hear and you will heard glasses clinking and laughter of those in attendance.  I hope you can enjoy what you can hear as it certainly is rare audio and I wanted to share it with you.

Allan: I believe that the shows are getting better (if that’s possible). You always surprise and entertain us every week. May I say that I am honored to be the Executive Producer on a show with such historical audio. Keep up the good work! Bob

Another great one. Hearing “At a boy Luther” is such a timeless thing to have been shouted. I will never forget when I saw the Ghost and Mr. Chicken. At the time I lived in a small town Hartsville, SC. There were two theaters in town, “The Berry” and the “Center Theater”. The “Center Theater” is one of those real old fashion movie houses. It was 1966, we lived only a little over a block away from the theater. She had given me a silver dollar to go to the show. That was when I saw the Ghost and Mr. Chicken, it was a hit in the theaters. That silver dollar bought me a ticket, popcorn, box of Junior Mints, and a coke. I do believe I even had a little bit of change! Well, getting a little carried away here, but when Don was making that nervous speech and that fellow yelled out “At a boy Luther” it was one line in that movie I have never forgotten. Listenting to this episode really caused me to reflect of a simpler time when I lived in a place very similar to Mayberry !
