I got a voice mail correcting some answers from our Trivia Fun episode (#492) and I wanted to make sure we get these corrections to you.
There was a column that ran in “The Bullet,” the official newsletter of The Andy Griffith Show Rerun Watchers Club (TAGSRWC), for years called “Emmett’s Fix-It Shop Talk.” I did an episode of Two Chairs on the column back in July 2015 (#337) so I thought it might be time to visit and hear some more from the Fix-it Shop.
“Emmett’s Fix-It Shop Talk” was “a forum for readers questions and comments” along with answers researched and written by TAGSRWC Presiding Goober, Jim Clark.
Randy Turner bring us a This Week in Mayberry History report covering writer Paul Henning.

Hal Smith has been on my mind the last few weeks so I thought we’d look back at the March 26, 1999 issue of The Bullet and see what Professor Brower had to say about the episode, “Hot Rod Otis.” It was the 30th episode of season three and the 115th episode filmed over-all. Professor Brower brings us comments from episode writer Harvey Bullock that you will not find anywhere else.
Randy Turner bring us a This Week in Mayberry History report covering actor Roy Barcroft who had an amazing career and who played “Clint Biggers” in the episode “Dogs, Dogs, Dogs.”
We also hear a couple of voice mails and a report from Betty Lynn‘s 92nd birthday back on August 29, 2018.

We talked about Hal Smith last time here on Two Chairs and that inspired feedback from several of our Mayberry friends so we’ll be hearing that on this episode. We’ll also be getting a great report from Randy Turner on Mayberry’s own “Howard Morris.”
Howard was much more than Ernest T. Bass and I want to thank Randy for pushing fans to look at more of Mr. Morris’ amazing work. There’s a link in the note for an amazing skit that Howard was part of back in April 1954 on “Your Show of Shows” with Sid Caesar and Carl Reiner. If you have time, you really should watch.
Friends, go out there this week and tell your family you love them and call up an old friend or two. Spread the Mayberry spirit all around because the world certainly needs it.

This week’s installment of This Week in Mayberry History by Randy Turner features Hal Smith and that got me thinking that I’ve never dedicated an episode of this podcast to Hal Smith nor Otis. I’m going to change that this episode.
By the time you leave, you’ll know more about Hal Smith than most fans of The Andy Griffith Show. He was a special person and I think you’ll soon see that is a truth and not just an opinion.
