Last week we talked about the first spin-off from The Andy Griffith Show, Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C., and I thought it fitting to talk about the one that was more of a continuation of the original, Mayberry R.F.D.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the eighth and final season of The Andy Griffith Show, widower farmer Sam Jones (played by Ken Berry) and his young son Mike (played by Buddy Foster) were introduced and became a part of the Mayberry family. They continued on into the Mayberry R.F.D. series as the focus and brought much of the town of Mayberry along with them. This series kept the town alive in our hearts and minds after Andy Taylor (Andy Griffith) moved away with Helen, whom he marries on the first episode of Mayberry R.F.D, and Opie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m looking forward to the fact that the full series has been released on DVD and I can now be sure I’ve seen all the episodes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
