The writers of The Andy Griffith Show <\/strong><\/em>don’t get mentioned as much as the actors but it was they who actually created the characters who Andy, Don and the cast portrayed. Without the writers, we wouldn’t have gotten the stories about baby birds without a mamma, unusual mountain folks, and the many other special folks who live in Mayberry. It was they who created the world in which Barney and Andy lived and made it come to life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There’s an out of print book called “Inside Mayberry: ‘The Andy Griffith Show’ Handbook<\/em>” by Dan Harrison and Bill Habeeb that gives us an entire chapter on the writers. I’m going to share the insight the Harrison & Habeeb divined in their chapter about “The Writers.” I’ll be doing some reading but hopefully the story told is good enjoy to excuse having the host read to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
