Dear Faithful Fans,

"HELLO DOLL" and "Thank You from the Top of my Heart!!" to everyone who sent "Get Well" letters, cards, and flowers, and to those who prayed for me. It was very comforting and gave me the strength to keep my faith and cooperate with all the therapy work, or as Barney says "Therapetic". When I look at all the kind words that were sent and how The Andy Griffith Show has affected people's lives, I am ever more grateful to be part of the show and its continued effect on the future.

This has to be the most heartbreaking letter I have ever written or dictated.

I am writing to inform you all, that due to my resent stroke, which paralyzed my right side, I will no longer be able to personally correspond or sign photos or cards. This has been one of my life's greatest pastimes and I will miss it greatly.

My son Tracy Alexander will be taking care of my autograph requests and fan mail. We will be offering the same variety of photos with a personal canceled check with my signature on it mounted in a custom matte for a satisfying presentation. We hope you will be pleased. The transition will take some time, so please be patient.

My prices will be raised to cover the additional costs I am truly sorry and full of "Palpitations" for the increases, and hope it is not a financial burden for you.

I always took great pride in answering my mail personally, which I will deeply miss. The best script writers in the world could not come up with the words to convey my grateful feelings. All the years of corresponding with my fans and now friends, will always hold a special place in my heart and soul for eternity, it meant the world to me. I thank you for all your love and support.

THE MAYBERRY FANS ARE THE GREATEST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD!!.
