As you may recall, Barney thought he was a strange acting farmer, possibly a crook. As it turns out, he was acting odd because his wife was expecting their first child. Andy helped deliver the baby, and in turn, Sam named the infant " Andy."
William Schallert was born on July 6, 1922, in Los Angeles. He is married to actress, Lia Waggner. In fact, they appeared together ( as man and wife ) in an episode of The Dick Van Dyke titled, "A Word A Day."
It would probably take an entire book to completely cover the acting credits of Mr. Schallert. He was a regular on the following tv shows :
