WILLIAM SCHALLERT -: APPEARED IN EPISODE # 29, " QUIET SAM ," AS SAM BECKER.

As you may recall, Barney thought he was a strange acting farmer, possibly a crook. As it turns out, he was acting odd because his wife was expecting their first child. Andy helped deliver the baby, and in turn, Sam named the infant " Andy."

William Schallert was born on July 6, 1922, in Los Angeles. He is married to actress, Lia Waggner. In fact, they appeared together ( as man and wife ) in an episode of The Dick Van Dyke titled, "A Word A Day."

It would probably take an entire book to completely cover the acting credits of Mr. Schallert. He was a regular on the following tv shows :

1959 - 1963, he portrayed Mr. Leander Pomfritt on " The Many Loves Of Dobie Gillis "
1963 - 1966, he was Patty Duke's father, Martin Lane, on " The Patty Duke Show "
1976, he appeared as Teddy Futterman, on " The Nancy Walker Show "
1977 -1978, Mr. Schallert portrayed Carson Drew on both " The Hardy Boys Mysteries " and " The Nancy Drew Mysteries."
1979, he appeared in two tv dramas, " Little Women " and " Ike."
1986, he also appeared in the tv mini-series, " War And Remembrance."
1986 - 1989, he appeared as Russ Lawrence on " The New Gidget."
1991 - 1992, he portrayed Wesley Hodges on the sitcom, " The Torkelsons."

Beginning in the 1950's, Mr. Schallert has guest-starred, or been a semi-regular on many tv shows and tv movies, including :
