Plot Summary The Inspector:

The state inspector visits the Mayberry jail to check on police procedures and is horrified at the lackadaisical approaches he finds. After threats to remove Andy from office, he accompanies him on a call to a local moonshiner and discovers Andy is more of a lawman than he had imagined.

We’ll review some notes and “Odd Facts Known by Few” related to the episode The Inspector.

Mayberry Days is a great time to be in Mount Airy, NC and the 35th annual Mayberry Days lived up to that statement. A highlight of every Mayberry Days is the “super bowl” of Mayberry Trivia.

This episode we go through the Qualifying Round questions and answers of the 2024 World Championship of Mayberry Trivia.

The qualifying round is played by all who chose to participate and attempt to earn a spot in the Finals of Mayberry trivia. If you qualify, you end up facing previous years Mayberry Days Trivia champions as well as the others who qualified from this round on stage for the finals.

Good luck with the questions. If you got more than 10 right, you ought to make your way to Mayberry Days and try your hand at landing on stage for the finals.

We finish up with some easier Mayberry trivia.

After discovering the descendant of a local Revolutionary War hero sought for a commendation by the Women’s Historical Society is none other than Otis Campbell, the mayor and town council pressure Andy to tell Otis he is no longer getting the award. Andy stands by his friend, and Otis comes through with flying colors.

It’s the Halloween season and it is a tradition here on Two Chairs No Waiting to tell a spooky story or two around the campfire.

This year, as we did last year, we have a special guest storyteller. James Dodson has been coming to Mayberry events for a few years now as an “Andy Griffith” tribute artist. I thought it would be fitting to have him tell the story about “The Golden Arm” and I know you’ll enjoy his telling.

I always look for other stories that fit into the feeling of the season and I found this on about the “Hungry Mother.” When traveling from Alabama to Andy’s home town of Mount Airy, NC my wife and I always pass the freeway exit for Hungry Mother State Park near Marion, VA. Almost every year, with out fail, we comment on “why would they name a park ‘hungry mother’?” I found out the story and I’ll share it with you.

Finally, a story about a man all alone on a dark mountain road. Looking for help because his car won’t stop.

This episode is spooky so be sure to keep those who might not sleep well, like Barney and Gomer, away from this one. I wouldn’t want to have anyone staring darkness trying to spot someone looking for their golden arm or their mother.

Plot Summary The New Doctor:

Barney convinces Andy that handsome, young Dr. Robert Benson is moving in on Ellie. Andy decides to act and steps between these “two people lost in a world of pills” to claim Ellie’s hand. When he learns that Dr. Benson is actually about to be married to someone else, Andy is forced into a proposal. Ellie, though, turns him down.
