My voice is a bit strained this week so I went back into the archives 20 years to bring out a video from Mayberry Days 2004. We’ll hear from Betty Lynn, Thelma Lou herself, as she appeared during the 2004 Col. Tim’s show. I know you’ll enjoy hearing what she has to say.

2004 was the year TV Land dedicated the Andy & Opie statue in Mount Airy. Andy was in attendance for the dedication as were several cast members from the show, to include Betty.

Mayberry Days 2024 was held the last full weekend of September (25-29) and it was wonderful. That doesn’t mean there weren’t some snags related to hurricane Helene that struck hard about an hour and a half south of Mount Airy but the inconveniences suffered were minor. By just after mid-day on Friday, the weather had cleared and only a few downed trees and power outages were left to be dealt with. Most folks attending Mayberry Days didn’t feel the impact as none of the venues hosting events suffered any ill effects.

Several of those who attended have called in with there reports of Mayberry Days. I know you’ll enjoy hearing from them and their personal experiences as much as I have.

Andy and Opie, Housekeepers was the 23rd episode filmed and the 23rd aired of The Andy Griffith Show. (S1.E23)

Plot Summary Andy and Opie, Housekeepers:

Aunt Bee leaves for Mount Pilot after Cousin Edgar calls to tell her Maude has taken ill. Within hours, the Taylor house has become a pig’s sty, and Andy and Opie must enlist the help of Bee’s friend Bertha to get it back in order before Bee returns. Andy realizes that Bee’s feelings will be hurt is she thinks they don’t need her and promptly dispatches Opie to mess the place up again. After discovering the newly made mess, Bee feels wanted again and all is well–until Bertha shows up.

We’ll review some notes and “Odd Facts Known by Few” related to the episode Andy and Opie, Housekeepers.
