I’ve been watching episodes of The Andy Griffith Show on pluto.tv lately (it’s on channel 510) and it shows all the episodes in order on a loop. That means I catch the color episodes a little more often than I usually do.

We fans are, I think, missing out on some very good television by avoiding the color episodes. I just watched the season 8 episode “Emmett’s Brother-in-Law” and I have to say it was a good one. Nice story and a good moral as well. I think it really displayed the spirit of Mayberry and caring about one another in a nice way.

I want to encourage you to give the color episodes a chance. There’s some funny and fun stuff there.

We have a few voice mails from folks and we’ll play a little trivia as well.

This week’s installment of This Week in Mayberry History by Randy Turner featuring “Lurene Tuttle” part 3.

Each year for the past several years there has been a “Badge Raise” on New Years Eve at the Mount Airy Museum of Regional History. This year we had a roving reporter on the scene to give us a first hand report about the goings on.

We also have several pieces of voice mail feedback from listeners/viewers of Two Chairs No Waiting. I can’t tell you how much it means to hear from you and I’m so thankful for those who take time to call in.

We’ll play some trivia, too!

This week’s installment of This Week in Mayberry History by Randy Turner featuring “Lurene Tuttle” part 2.

TCNW 666: Six, six, six, and seven eights

Two Chairs No Waiting
Two Chairs No Waiting

Host: Allan Newsome
Running time: 0:39:19

I’ve known this episode number was coming for a while and wondered how I would handle this particular number. I finally was given a great suggestion by Cort Howell to call it “Six, six, six, and seven eights” and, like Henry “the jinx” Bennett who drew out the hat size, to focus on superstitions. I’ve done episodes on superstitions before but this is a different look at them.

Superstitions – Where Did They Come From? Even if you think of yourself as a die-hard skeptic, you’ve probably heard of one or two superstitions in your time — and perhaps even indulged in an occasional good luck ritual of your own. Maybe it was a crazy owl flying around or it was wearing your “lucky socks” to help win a ballgame.

Let’s take a look and see where these superstitions started.

This week’s installment of This Week in Mayberry History by Randy Turner featuring “Lurene Tuttle” part 1.

TCNW 665: Top Episodes of 2021

Two Chairs No Waiting
Two Chairs No Waiting

Host: Allan Newsome
Running time: 0:36:19

During Christmas time, folks tend to get new electronic toys that can be used for listening to or watching podcasts. Over the years I’ve done an episode this time of year to reflect on the past year (and beyond) to see which episodes you have downloaded or viewed the most over the last year. This is a good way for new folks to see which of the 664 previous episodes they might like to go back and check out.

There are currently 664 episodes of Two Chairs No Waiting (before this episode). The total about of time that one could listen to Two Chairs before starting over is 11 days, 9 hours, 46 minutes and 14 seconds (before this episode).

Hopefully this list will be helpful in finding episodes you might enjoy revisiting or hearing for the first time.

This week’s installment of This Week in Mayberry History by Randy Turner has a bonus for you because I didn’t realize Randy provided me a segment for the Christmas episode. So, we’ll hear the Bonus and then later in the episode we’ll get is weekly report featuring “Mark Miller” part 4.

TCNW 664: Mayberry Christmas to all 2021

Two Chairs No Waiting
Two Chairs No Waiting

Host: Allan Newsome
Running time: 0:40:45

It’s Christmas in Mayberry so it’s time once again for our annual Christmas episode. The Andy Griffith Show only had one episode centered around a holiday and that was, of course, Christmas. We fans have watched that episode time and again as Ben Weaver tries to get himself arrested so he can spend Christmas in jail with the Taylor’s, the Muggins’, and Miss Ellie. It’s touched our heart every time.

Each year we try to bring back that feeling as we go through our Mayberry memories of Christmas time. We also make a new memory or two in the process. We have a special guest back again this year from over in Dodge City. His name is Festus Haggen and he has a really good story to tell about Santa. There’s a new story called “The Fife Before Christmas” by my friend Rik Roberts who played “Barney” in the Mayberry Man movie.

To close out the episode, we hear from Elinor Donahue about recording “Away in a Manger” with Andy then we hearing her sing.

God bless you and I hope you have a very merry Christmas.
