There are so many things going on in the Mayberry world, even after more than 60 years, so I want to take a while to make sure you aren’t missing out on being “in the know.” Thanks to Jim Clark at The Andy Griffith Show Rerun Watchers Club (TAGSRWC) headquarters in Nashville, we fans can always stay informed. The eBullet, the official newsletter of TAGSRWC, has been keeping fans up-to-date for years thanks to Jim.
We’ll have a few trivia questions to see if your Mayberry skills are sharp and then we’ll hear this weeks installment of “Returning to Mayberry” by SpiritWalker where he’ll look into “Main Star to Hotdog Bar.”

There has been a lot of conversation on the internet in the last few weeks about Floyd. We all know who Floyd is, the barber in Mayberry, but the talk has been about the 1st Floyd and the 2nd Floyd. You don’t know what I’m talking about? You only remember one Floyd? We’ll that’s what we’re going to talk about and help you come up to speed.
An actor by the name of Walter Baldwin was the first person to play Floyd the barber. He was only in one episode and was replaced by the Floyd we all know and love, played by Howard McNear. I have a very special place in my heart for Howard McNear since his is the version of Floyd I play tribute to at Mayberry festivals.
I’ve got a lot of good information about the character of Floyd the barber that I know you’re going to enjoy.
We’ll read some trivia questions and have some fun.

We have some fun and thought provoking voice mails to go through on this episode from listeners and viewers of Two Chairs No Waiting. I’m calling this episode community feedback because I really believe we have developed a community of people at are involved with one another with the podcast and, of course, the love of The Andy Griffith Show being what drew them together.
It’s really amazing that a show more than sixty years old is still drawing people together to have fun and become a community. Enjoy these questions and observations from fellow fans and consider taking a minute to call in and add your own voice to our community of Mayberry fans. We’d love to hear from you.
We’ll ask a few Mayberry trivia questions for you to have fun with.
And we’ll hear from SpiritWalker with this week’s installment of “Returning to Mayberry” called, “Doomsayer to Fat Mayor.” Say….that rhymes.

I’ve been looking around the Two Chairs No Waiting Archives and ran across my copy of the second issue of “The Bullet.” “The Bullet” was the paper version of the official newsletter put out by The Andy Griffith Show Rerun Watchers Club and this second issue was published on March 18, 1983. That’s just short of 39 years ago as I record this episode.
I thought it would be fun to share with you a story from that issue by Ken Beck called “Mayberry Mountain People” and see what was going on 39 years ago in Mayberry and to find out a few new things about some of The Andy Griffith Show cast.
Following that, we’ll play some Mayberry trivia and then move along to hear from SpiritWalker with this week’s installment of “Returning to Mayberry” called, “Earp to Earp.”

I was moving things around in the Two Chairs No Waiting Archives and ran across a copy of “The Mayberry Confidential” from September 28,1995. You might be asking, “What is ‘The Mayberry Confidential?’ and I would say itiis the “Official News of Mayberry Days” and is published each year as a guide to the events held during Mayberry Days in Andy’s hometown of Mt. Airy, NC.
This issue has a wonderful story written by guest columnist Jim Clark called “A Condition of the Heart.” I believe the feelings expressed by Jim fit well with comments made in previous episodes about Mayberry being a “state of mind.” Jim’s thoughts may be an even betty way to express what Mayberry means to us and I know you’ll enjoy hearing them.
We have several voice messages to share with you so stick around until the end of the show. You won’t want to miss our final call that we hear after this week’s installment of “Returning to Mayberry” by SpiritWalker called, “Rickles to Freckles.“
