A couple of weeks ago, at the 2018 Mayberry in the Midwest event, I was able to visit a bit with fellow Mayberry podcaster John Lane. John was dressed as a young Sheriff Andy Taylor during the event so you may have seen him if you were there. I took the opportunity to ask John if I could re-air the Rance Howard interview he did on episodes 18 & 19 of his “Goober Says Hey” podcast. He was gracious enough to say I could so you are in for a treat, even if you heard it back in 2016 when it was originally released.
We hear from Rance about how Ron and Clint Howard turned out so well; how Ron got the role of Opie; what steps he took to raise the boys as “normal” kids; how did Rance end up in roles on The Andy Griffith Show; “Black Day in Mayberry” role for Rance; how Ron learned the technical aspects of the business; what Frances Bavier was like; memories from the set of TAGS; and so much more!
