Recently, the Daily Mountain Eagle newspaper located in Jasper, AL (George “Goober” Lindsey’s hometown) did an interview with me that was all about this podcast. I asked Jennifer Cohron, the Daily Mountain Eagle’s features editor and writer of the article, if I could use her story on Two Chairs No Waiting. She said it was no problem and I thought it would be fun to do a podcast about a newspaper story about the podcast….that’s so meta! (If you don’t know what meta means in this use, ask somebody very young…they’ll know.)

The 20th Annual George Lindsey UNA Film Festival is coming up and I want to take this episode to tell you about this amazing event our Mayberry friend, George, was so instrumental in creating. For 20 years young film makers have been given an amazing opportunity to learn from and be a part of this wonderful film festival. Mayberry the next Ron Howard will have directed his first film or drew inspiration from this event that was so near to George’s heart.

As I’m recording this is Presidents Day in the United States so I wanted to use that topic as a theme for this episode. The first President that comes to mind with I think “The Andy Griffith Show” is Floyd the barber’s favorite, Calvin Coolidge. Since the two go together, let’s hear from FAQs about Floyd and follow up with some quote from President Coolidge. I think you’ll enjoy both!
Bonus: This week in Mayberry History provides us with some great facts about how Mayberry got started on The Danny Thomas Show and more.

This episode starts off with us hearing from Randy Turner with his This Week in Mayberry History report about Burt Mustin and Susan Oliver. His report got me interested in learning a little more about Susan Oliver who played the prisoner in “Prisoner of Love” (a season 4 episode of TAGS).
It turns out there is much more to our favorite prisoner that I ever knew. I hope you enjoy learning more about this amazing lady. There are several links below to more information about her so you can dig further if you’d like.

We heard from some folks last week but I didn’t even get to comments from those who watch the YouTube video version of Two Chairs No Waiting. This episode, we fix that as several have taken time to leave comments on YouTube and we’ll hear from them.
BOUNS: This Week in Mayberry History (by Randy Turner) gives us information that you won’t get anywhere else. Thanks to Randy for these great reports! A link is below to the Facebook page where Randy posts even more Mayberry gold.
