When the precursor to iMayberry.com began back in 1991, it was partially as a way to deal with the uncertainty of the time. The aerial bombardment of Iraq in had begun in Operation Desert Storm or as many call it, the First Gulf War. It was a stressful time for our country. News reports of what was happening in the war region was continuous and it was hard to get my mind off of what was going on. My biggest release was the half hour or so I spent each day visiting “Mayberry.”
I would log on the computer and as I visited with my Mayberry friends, I was able to forget the worlds troubles and smile. I thank the good Lord for those friends and how they ministered to me by just being friendly and sharing a laugh with me through that time of stress.
We need that today, just like back in 1991. Actually, we’ve needed it in all the time in-between because there is always stress. It is friends and relationships that are really important in our lives. Let’s spend a little time together in Mayberry and recharge our spirit. Focus on what’s really important and grow our friendships and relationships because in the years to come, that’s what will make “the trees nice and full.”

I was doing some cleanup around the house during the holidays and ran across a story from March 2006 about a Mayberry Variety Show that was going to occur on April 21, 2006. It was going to be connected with the induction of Jim “Gomer Pyle” Nabors into the Alabama Stage and Screen Hall of Fame to be held on April 22, 2006.
What great memories this event brought back so I wanted to share at least some of them with you.
Bonus: This week’s installment of This Week in Mayberry History by Randy Turner featuring “Frank Ferguson” part 2.

Welcome to episode nineteen of the 5 Minute Mayberry Devotional, entitled Love and Joy. In today’s episode, we’re going to continue in the Christmas season and look again at The Christmas Story episode and we’ll use Scripture from Luke 2:8-20.
It’s Christmas time in Mayberry so it’s time for our Christmas episode. The Andy Griffith Show only had one episode centered around a holiday and that was, of course, Christmas. Fans have watched time and again as Ben Weaver tries to get himself arrested so he can spend Christmas in jail with the Taylor’s and the Muggins’. It’s touched our hearts.
We’ll try to bring back that feeling as we go through Mayberry memories of Christmas time and try to make a new memory or two while we’re at it. There is a special guest back again this year from over in Dodge City. His name is Festus Haggen and he has a really good story to tell about Santa. There’s a new poem called “Mayberry Courthouse Christmas” written by Ronnie Felker (a.k.a. FearlessFife.com).
This Week in Mayberry History features Randy Turner himself with a Christmas greeting.
Finally, we hear from Elinor Donahue about recording “Away in a Manger” with Andy then we wrap up by hearing her sing.
It’s a wonderful life and I hope by the end of the show, we can all agree that everything is okay, in Mayberry.
