Jean Carson
(February 28, 1923 - November 2, 2005)

Dear Friends,

I have very sad news to report. Mayberry's own "Fun Girl", Ms Jean Carson, passed away on November 2, 2005 at 2:30pm.

Jean's son, Tracy Alexander, wanted to express his thanks for "the outpouring of cards, prayers and letters" during the time of his mother's sickness. Below you can see a wonderful, heartfelt note to Ms Carson's fans from Tracy.

We have also set up Memorial page where you, her fans and family, can go to express your memories of Jean. Please drop by and share your memory. (You will need to register in order to leave a note but your information will not be used in any way so feel safe in doing so.)

& Twilight Zone's - Bad Girl "Paula"

1923 - 2005

Dear Loving Fans,

I am totally overwhelmed with love and gratefulness from the outpouring of letters received during my mom's therapy and recovery attempts. I know in my heart it gave her great comfort to know and feel that everyone was there with Love, Support and Prayer.

May I tell you now she passed very peacefully.

I was called around 11:30 a.m. on Wed., Nov. 2nd, and was told my mom was non-responsive but could most likely hear. I packed up some family photographs, a CD player with some gentle music, poetry and candles,  and bought flowers and a small stuffed leopard (exotic cat prints were her favorite for pillows and clothing).

I arrived at the care center, told my mom I loved her and to please go when she was ready. I assured her it would be a peaceful transition and Jesus would be by her side. I set up everything so it was a comforting environment.

I read a little to her, told her about the flowers and leopard and placed it in her hand. I also shared the new photos with the caring staff.

A Hospice chaplain came by and offered prayer and comforting words. It was wonderful timing. We talked for a bit and when my wife called, the chaplain said she would be right back. I told my wife about Mom, that I was fine right now, and that a nurse just came in and I wanted to talk to her so I'd call her back. I asked the nurse if we could go over the morning charts to compare the heart rates and go over meds.  She had that look and said she believed the heart had just stopped. It had. It was perfect timing (which an actress has to have).

I had turned around for just one moment for my phone call and Mom used that exact moment to "Exit Stage Left" without me seeing. In theater it's called smoke and mirrors. She had her curtain call at 2:30 p.m. that day.

I hope I haven't said too much but, reading through her fan mail, I have come to think of you like family and thought you would want some detail.

Thanks to "The Andy Griffith Show" and her Great Fans it will never be said she *was* Daphne on the show.....she will always *BE* Daphne on the show.

An apology goes to anyone who had made autograph request during these trying times. I will be returning all money with a letter describing the new autograph formats available.

We will be holding a public memorial at Casa Cody Bed and Breakfast in "The Winter House" in Palm Springs, California, on December 4th at 1:00 p.m. Their web site is www.casacody.com

We are asking that ,instead of flowers, any memorial donations be made to Mom's favorite charity, "The National Audubon Society."

Gratefully Yours,
Tracy Alexander

PS. I want to thank the Visiting Nurse Association for there Hospice Program. I highly recommend their services if you're in need.

Welcome to my web site. My name is Jean Carson and I guess I'm best remembered as Daphne, one of the "Fun Girls", on The Andy Griffith Show but I have appeared in more that 200 TV shows and in movies.

I hope you like the name of the site. "Hello doll" is one of my more famous lines from The Andy Griffith Show and I really wanted to use it as the name of my site. What you'll find here is a little about me and you'll have a chance to purchase autographed photos of me in several different roles. I want to thank all of the fans out there. It is a great joy to meet you and to hear from you by mail. I don't have e-mail so the post office is the only way you'll be able to contact me for now. You can order an autographed photo of me from my autographs page.

I hope to hear from you soon! -- Jean
