This is a Mayberry outsiders review of The Andy Griffith Show community with a focus on the Two Chairs No Waiting podcast as a center point. The insights from those looking into our Mayberry community are interesting and something you’ll enjoy. They aren’t “fans” of the show but are looking at it, and us, in a fun way from the outside looking in.

The deep dive into the sociology and forensic of the Fandom is something fans will learn from. They might get some of the exact facts slightly wrong, since the presenters aren’t big fans, but overall they did a very good job. The report leaves us with a good feeling about how those who aren’t big fans can appreciate the community built about the Two Chairs No Waiting podcast and connected Mayberry websites.

This week we have the conclusion of the stage play we began in the last episode. If you didn’t watch/listen to part 1, I encourage you to go back and do that before you partake of the second half of the play.

Back in September 2015 some of the Mayberry tribute artists traveled to Bellevue Baptist Church near Memphis, TN to perform a play written & directed by David “The Mayberry Deputy” Browning called “Ernest T’s Rock Concert.” I featured the first portion of the play, this segment called 23rd Psalms, that was written by Joe Gritton about a year ago in episode 847 of the podcast.

I’ve resisted showing the entire play because the hope was always that we might be able to perform the play in other locations. After eleven years, I think that hope has been overcome by the reality that we’ll never be able to do it again. It’s a really great show written by David and I’m proud of what was done and I think it’s time to share it with the world.
