TCNW 571: Ron Howard

Two Chairs No Waiting
Two Chairs No Waiting

Host: Allan Newsome
Running time: 0:26:01

Ron Howard had a birthday this week (March 1st) so I thought it only fitting that we talk a little about him. Turns out that two other folks from Mayberry also had birthdays on March 1st. Aaron Ruben and Paul Hartman so we can’t leave them out on the happy birthday wishes.

Finally, someone VERY special to Ron Howard also celebrates a birthday only one day after his own. Listen to find out who.

Bonus: This week’s installment of This Week in Mayberry History by Randy Turner featuring Howard Hesseman.

TCNW 570: Remembering Don Knotts #7

Two Chairs No Waiting
Two Chairs No Waiting

Host: Allan Newsome
Running time: 0:40:05

It has been 14 years since the great Don Knotts left this world. It was Feb 24, 2006 when he passed away and it’s been since 2014 that an episode of this podcast was dedicated to remembering him which is too long to go without honoring this amazing man.

I’m going to share some of my memories of Don Knotts and then we’ll hear from Jim Clark with his memories. Jim Clark is the man behind The Andy Griffith Show Rerun Watchers Club (TAGSRWC) and his memories are from the March 2006 issue of The eBullet, the official newsletter of TAGSRWC.

Bonus: This week’s installment of This Week in Mayberry History by Randy Turner featuring Wallace Ford part 2.

TCNW 569: Jack Burns, More than Warren

Two Chairs No Waiting
Two Chairs No Waiting

Host: Allan Newsome
Running time: 0:32:46

We recently lost a fellow Mayberry citizen. Jack Burns played Floyd Lawson’s nephew Warren Ferguson for a time in Mayberry. He was called on to follow Don Knotts in the role of a deputy in Mayberry and that was certainly a thankless job. Nobody could replace Barney.

We also lost Gene Reynolds who directed three episodes of The Andy Griffith Show and Fred Silverman who was executive producer of Matlock.

You’ll want to learn more about all these amazing men.

Bonus: This week’s installment of This Week in Mayberry History by Randy Turner featuring Wallace Ford.

TCNW 568: Goober, Mayberry Man, and Feedback

Two Chairs No Waiting
Two Chairs No Waiting

Host: Allan Newsome
Running time: 0:34:01

Randy Turner leads us off this week with a great This Week in Mayberry History report on the 8th season episode “Goober Goes to an Auto Show.” I know many of us, as fans, don’t like the color episodes but I believe this report may make you want to at least give this particular episode another watch..

Next up we’ll hear an interview that aired recently on WIBC 93.1 in Indianapolis on the
Hammer and Nigel Show. Hammer and Nigel interviewed the Howell brothers who are doing all they can to bring more Mayberry into the world through the Mayberry Man movie. You’ll get to hear directly from them why they’re making the movie. For a few more weeks (until February 29, 2020) you have a chance to be a part of bringing the movie to life.

Finally, we have a few voice mails from fellow Mayberry fans that I’ll do my best to answer and a reminder about the Two Chairs Meetup coming up at the George Lindsey UNA Film Festival (6-7 March 2020).

TCNW 567: Same Actor Different Character

Two Chairs No Waiting
Two Chairs No Waiting

Host: Allan Newsome
Running time: 0:38:09

I was looking around on the Mayberry.info site and found information about actors who appeared on The Andy Griffith Show as different characters. I didn’t know about, or remember, many of them so I thought you would enjoy putting the pieces together as much as I did. So, this episode I’ll give you the information I was able to find.

If you know of actors that I missed, please let me know so we can update the Mayberry.info page and give the best information to those that visit the site.

Bonus: This week’s installment of This Week in Mayberry History by Randy Turner featuring Janet Waldo.
