Cort Howell is the son of Hoke Howell who played Dud Wash. Dud was Charlene’s husband who had been trained in gorilla warfare in the Army from which he was honorably discharged as a Private First Class. When Dud returned to Mayberry he still had all of Charlene’s letters, her hair ribbon, and the remainders of a mountain gladiola she’d given him proving he was “the sweetest boy whatever grow’d.”
Cort is one of the producers of the upcoming Mayberry Man movie. He’s working along side his brother Stark who wrote the Mayberry Man script and will be directing and Greg Schell, the son of Ronnie Schell, to bring the movie to the fans.
We hear about growing up around show business, how he came to watch/listen to Two Chairs No Waiting, updates on the movie, and about a behind the scenes report that I think you’ll enjoy.

There are people who come to Mayberry events dressed as characters from The Andy Griffith Showbecause they enjoy bringing smiles to the faces of those they meet. One such man is Keith Brown who you may have seen on the streets of Mayberry dressed as Col Harvey selling his Indian Elixir….good for what ails you.
Keith is much more that “Col Harvey.” He is a true fan of Mayberry, the people who live there and the fans who have made Mayberry their home town. This episode we’ll visit with Keith about his love for the show, trivia, and so much more that he does to spread the Mayberry spirit.

Now is a great chance to grab your friends that watch The Andy Griffith Show from time to time and believe they know everything about it and throw a trivia question at you like, “What was the name of the barber shop in Mayberry?” I know you, since you listen to this podcast, hear that question and have a hard time keeping a poker face while you pretend to have to think about the answer.
This trivia is, mostly, for the very casual fan of The Andy Griffith Show. I think that they will enjoy this and it should make you feel pretty good about your knowledge of the greatest show ever made. Sit back, grab some popcorn, and join in on the Mayberry fun with these easy trivia questions.

On episode #573 and #574 we heard a great interview with Maggie “Charlene” Peterson that was recorded in 2019 in Calhoun, GA at the “A Touch of Mayberry” event. As part of that event, tribute artists for Otis Campbell and Floyd the barber were there to warm up the crowd and keep things going.
This episode we get to here from Otis (Kenneth Junkin) and Floyd (Allan Newsome) live on stage entertaining. They tell several Mayberry related stories I know you’ll enjoy.
