We recently lost a fellow Mayberry citizen. Jack Burns played Floyd Lawson’s nephew Warren Ferguson for a time in Mayberry. He was called on to follow Don Knotts in the role of a deputy in Mayberry and that was certainly a thankless job. Nobody could replace Barney.
We also lost Gene Reynolds who directed three episodes of The Andy Griffith Show and Fred Silverman who was executive producer of Matlock.
You’ll want to learn more about all these amazing men.
Bonus: This week’s installment of This Week in Mayberry History by Randy Turner featuring Wallace Ford.

Randy Turner leads us off this week with a great This Week in Mayberry History report on the 8th season episode “Goober Goes to an Auto Show.” I know many of us, as fans, don’t like the color episodes but I believe this report may make you want to at least give this particular episode another watch..
Next up we’ll hear an interview that aired recently on WIBC 93.1 in Indianapolis on the Hammer and Nigel Show. Hammer and Nigel interviewed the Howell brothers who are doing all they can to bring more Mayberry into the world through the Mayberry Man movie. You’ll get to hear directly from them why they’re making the movie. For a few more weeks (until February 29, 2020) you have a chance to be a part of bringing the movie to life.
Finally, we have a few voice mails from fellow Mayberry fans that I’ll do my best to answer and a reminder about the Two Chairs Meetup coming up at the George Lindsey UNA Film Festival (6-7 March 2020).

I was looking around on the Mayberry.info site and found information about actors who appeared on The Andy Griffith Show as different characters. I didn’t know about, or remember, many of them so I thought you would enjoy putting the pieces together as much as I did. So, this episode I’ll give you the information I was able to find.
If you know of actors that I missed, please let me know so we can update the Mayberry.info page and give the best information to those that visit the site.

Howard “Floyd the barber” McNear would have been 115 years old on January 27, 2020 so I wanted to tell you a little about the man who kept Mayberry’s hair looking so good.
Did you know that both Howard McNear and his brother married women with the same given name? Did you know he served in WWII? I think there are a lot of things we don’t know about this wonderful man who has been making us smile for years. Listen to the show and know him better.

There’s been some news this week about Mayberry, copyrights, and permissions so I wanted to try to explain what I know about these things. Some of you may not be overly interested in this topic so I’m going to lead the show off with Randy Turner report and give you a chance to drop off after it is over if you really don’t care to hear the legal talk.
Let me state clearly, I am not a lawyer so nothing I’m saying is legal advice other than the part about trying to stay out of trouble….I think that’s good advice.

I have some fun listener feedback that I know you’re going to enjoy. One in particular is something that should make your heart smile.
Mayberry Man the movie is just about to start it’s Kickstarter campaign so I’ll give you some information on the movie and how you can help bring a little more Mayberry into this world.
