I ran across a fun website that raised the question, does everyone understand the southern sayings used on The Andy Griffith Show? I had never thought that some folks might not understand Southern English and some of the phrases used by folks in the South but realized that this might be an issue for folks from other areas.
The site it called “It’s a Southern Thing” (http://southernthing.com) and it is a great resource for those Southern challenged individuals throughout the world. You can use it to make sure you know what’s meant on screen and you don’t pick your peaches before they’re all fuzzed up good.

We all know about the Andy Griffith Show but how much do we know about the town of Mayberry? When this episode completes, you’ll know more about the city and county of Mayberry than those who live there.
Some of what you’ll learn:
Mayberry is located in the northwestern part of the state and is the county seat of Mayberry County. It was founded by John Mayberry in the year 1864 (estimated). The town was destroyed by fire in 1870 by “Rotten” Ray Ancrum (who later established the Ancrum Charcoal Company).

This episode is inspired by a post over at the iMayberry Communitywebsite. The questions were posted by a person going by “Mrs. Mendlebright” back on March 9, 2018 and had several folks answering and enjoying themselves. I hope you enjoy playing along and if you do, consider dropping by the iMayberry Community and becoming a citizen of that little online corner of Mayberry. My…it’s a friendly town.

This is part two of the two part interview with Bernard Fox, Mayberry’s Malcolm Merriweather. The interview was recorded in 1998 at the 6th Annual Mayberry Squad Car Rendezvous held just outside of the town of Bradford, OH.
He was only in three episodes of The Andy Griffith Show but “Malcolm” is a well remembered visitor to Mayberry. The role that most people outside of Mayberry likely remember best would be as Dr. Bombay, the warlock doctor on Bewitched. These are but two of the MANY roles played by this amazing actor.
The interview is performed by Mayberry, and pop culture, fan Dennis Hasty and was recorded live by my wonderful wife Jan.
Bonus: This week’s installment of This Week in Mayberry History by Randy Turner featuring “Les Tremayne.”

This is the first of a two part series featuring an interview with Bernard Fox, Mayberry’s very own bicycle riding “Englishster” Malcolm Merriweather. This interview was recorded 1998 at the 6th Annual Mayberry Squad Car Rendezvous held in the middle of a corn field near the town of Bradford, OH.
Though he was only in three episodes of The Andy Griffith Show, “Malcolm” is one of the most memorable visitors to Mayberry. Of course, I have to admit that for a long time Malcolm wasn’t the first role I thought of when Bernard Fox was mentioned. The role that many outside of Mayberry most likely remember him as would be as Dr. Bombay, the warlock doctor on Bewitched. Malcolm and Dr. Bombay are but two of the MANY roles played by this amazing actor.
Enjoy part 1 of this great interview by Mayberry, and pop culture, fan Dennis Hasty recorded live.
