In this episode, we get to hear back from some of your fellow listeners. It seems the Mayberry Party Line episode (#117) was a popular one for comments from listeners as was last weeks show, African-Americans in Mayberry.
If you haven’t heard those shows already, drop by for a listen and then give a listen to the input from our Mayberry friends.
We also have some nostalgic barber shop memories shared with us by a listener bringing back memories of Floyd’s barber shop and your hometown barber.

We have several bits of feedback and comments from some of wonderful listeners of the podcast. They’ll be sharing some great Mayberry related stories and we’ll hear some about how The Andy Griffith Show impacts real life.
The Laura Lee Hobbs Chapter tells us some of the details of their recent meeting and spreads the word about Mayberry events. Paul Mulik talks about selfish giraffes and dogs being low to the ground. Idelle Bushy sings “Hail to Thee Miss Mayberry” at work. And finally we hear from Tammy Sullivan about her boy, “Opie.”
I can’t thank you enough for sharing time with me in Mayberry each week. It’s a special community of fans that make up the listeners of this show and I’m thankful for you.
Enjoy the show and welcome to Mayberry if you’re just finding us.

Mayberry Christmas to all! Lets have some fun and sing along with “Barney the Mayberry Deputy” (Sung to the tune “Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer). The lyrics are below.
We also get to hear Miss Ellie sing Away in a Manger for the close of the podcast. I hope this episode brings to mind the joy of the Christmas season no matter what time of year you happen to be listening.
Barney the Mayberry Deputy (Sung to the tune “Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer”)
Barney the Mayberry deputy,
Had a very shiny badge,
And when he cleaned his bullet,
He would use liquid Pledge.
All of the other deputies,
Tried but it just wasn’t the same,
They couldn’t match ole Barney,
Tiger Fife was his name.
Then one foggy Christmas Eve,
Andy came to say,
Barney with your build so right,
Won’t you be our Santa tonight.
My how the folks there loved him,
Andy, Opie, Ellie and Aunt Bee,
Barney the Mayberry Deputy,
You’ll go down in History!!!

Mayberry Fan Fiction – Here’s a trip back to Mayberry using your mind and the written word. You’ll love reading these stories and traveling back to “our hometown.” If you have a story of your own that’s about Mayberry and the friends that we find there, please submit them to us for placement here so that other fans can enjoy your talents.
David Morris – – Ernest T.’s real life son may not be throwing rocks but he is “playing” rock. David Morris, son of Howard Morris, has been busy recording a solo rock album dedicated to his dad. Many folks won’t know that “Ernest T.” started out as a drummer and bought David a drum set when he was about 10. Check out and purchase David’s “rock” album called “Picture an Accident” by visiting the albums web site.
To start the show, we have a fun bit of “Mayberry in real life” from a listener who wrote in and sent us some photos of his encounter. We’re following that up with a voice mail Mayberry Days memory from Tom and then we’re back to the bank book.
The issue that keeps raising it’s head is “who’s bank book was Andy looking at, his own or Parnell Rigsby’s, when he said, “Ain’t that the saddest bank book you ever saw?” Andy took the bank book out of the same cigar box that he had been keeping Mr. Rigsby’s change purse. I, and many others, have always believed that to be Andy’s bank book BUT there are also a lot of folks that think that it was Mr. Rigsby’s bank book.
I did two episodes of the Two Chairs No Waiting podcast (episodes 74 & 75) on that exact subject and I continue to receive feedback on this topic.
I did screen shots but you can’t tell from them who’s bank book it actually is. Only that there is gold or silver embossed logo/writing on the cover. It certainly appears to be a Savings Account type deposit book from a bank and it certainly not a checkbook ledger.
Does anyone happen to have a copy of the script for “Opie’s Fortune” (#136 season 5)? If so, perhaps it would have stage direction as to who’s bank book Andy is taking from the drawer. Your assistance would be wonderful.

Final segments of our visit with Andy Griffith at Mayberry Days 2004 and we have a special treat. Andy sings the Mayberry Union High fight song! What a wonderful way to end this series of podcast devoted to the statue presentation to the city of Mt. Airy, NC.
We also have a wonderful call from a listener telling us about meeting Andy Griffith and what a wonderful experience it was.
Thank you, again, Doug Rogers for providing us with this outstanding audio of Andy’s comments.

It has been several weeks since we last listened to the feedback sent in by your fellow listeners so tonight we’ll be diving into that. You may notice that the title is only “Feedback Episode” with no number. I did that in honor of Barney Fife because the last feedback episode we had was number twelve….so being cautious…I’m not numbering this episode.
We have feedback about the Darling boys, Mitch Jayne, Good Ole 14-A, and Don Knotts. We have some fun and interesting items included in the comments so sit back and enjoy the show!
The audio is a bit hard to hear and you will heard glasses clinking and laughter of those in attendance. I hope you can enjoy what you can hear as it certainly is rare audio and I wanted to share it with you.

Many of you might remember Don Knotts appearing on The New Scooby-Doo Movies aired back in 1972 and in reruns every since. He was on two different “movies” that year and it was easy to tell that the cartoon character was Don Knotts.
There’s a new cartoon called “Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated” that just started last week and the first episode was titled “Beware the Beast from Below.” I mention this because the crowd at the beginning of the episode had standing there, front and center, the Don Knotts character from back in the 1970’s.
