I ran across an article by Ryan Vandergriff on TVOvermind.com called ‘A Return to Mayberry: Remembering “The Andy Griffith Show“‘ recently. It was published a little over a year ago but I thought it would be worth taking the time to talk about here on the podcast.
Bonus: This week’s installment of This Week in Mayberry History by Randy Turner featuring information about the “Return to Mayberry” television movie.

I’m always trying to find fun and interesting facts for you that you likely haven’t run across before. This week, I found an article published in the Denver Post weekly magazine titled “Empire.” The article was from 1979 and was written by Ralph Albi.
As best I was able to determine, Mr. Albi also created the quiz that went along with the article. The quiz is about Andy Griffith, not necessarily Andy Taylor so there may be a few questions that TAGS fans will have a hard time answering. Let’s see how we do.
Bonus: This week’s installment of This Week in Mayberry History by Randy Turner featuring information about Buddy Ebsen.

This episode we’ll be talking about the “Barney and the Choir” episode (#52) of TAGS from season two. What got it in my mind is that spring has just begun and Good Ole 14-A was featured on this episode. It’s real name is “Welcome Sweet Springtime” and way back on Two Chairs No Waiting #95 (Aug 3, 2010) we covered a lot of information about the music so you may want to go back and check out that podcast episode to get your fill of springtime music.
This episode, we’re just going to enjoy the magic that is Barney’s voice so sit back where you can and hang on!
Bonus: This week in Mayberry History. (No Time for Sergeants)

Recently, the Daily Mountain Eagle newspaper located in Jasper, AL (George “Goober” Lindsey’s hometown) did an interview with me that was all about this podcast. I asked Jennifer Cohron, the Daily Mountain Eagle’s features editor and writer of the article, if I could use her story on Two Chairs No Waiting. She said it was no problem and I thought it would be fun to do a podcast about a newspaper story about the podcast….that’s so meta! (If you don’t know what meta means in this use, ask somebody very young…they’ll know.)
