Last week I talked about Frank E. Myers not being Mr. Schwamp, but who is Frank E. Myers? He was the production manager for The Andy Griffith Show and he was so much more. You might not know what a production manager does for a television series so you’ll learn that tonight as well.
In the January 26, 1993 issue of The Bullet: Official Newsletter of The Andy Griffith Show Rerun Watchers Club (TAGSRWC) Jim Clark wrote a wonderful article about Mr. Myers. Thankfully we have Jim’s wonderful recollection of Frank Myers life and carrier to find out more about the man and his part in making “our home town” of Mayberry come alive.
Let’s play some trivia to clear the bad vibes and then hear from Randy. This week’s installment of This Week in Mayberry History by Randy Turner featuring “Doug Dillard.”

Welcome to episode thirty of the Mayberry Devotional, entitled “What Clothes Are You Wearing?” In today’s episode, I’m going to look at Episode 27 of The Andy Griffith Show, Ellie Saves a Female and I’ll use Scripture from Ephesians 4:22-23.
Late this past week an online “news” site posted a story claiming to identify the “true” identity of Mr. Schwamp. My darling person, Jan “Mrs. Weaver” Newsome, found the story and went straight to work trying to debunk it as being fake. I joined in the search for the truth and I can say that the published story is wrong. So, we’re going to try to “nip it in the bud” before Mayberry fans everywhere begin to believe the bad reporting.
Frank E. Myers, the production manager for The Andy Griffith Show, is NOT Mr. Schwamp nor is he (as the story claimed) Danny Thomas‘ brother. I have evidence to prove my reporting which was not really all that hard to find so I would not trust the website that carried the story (I’m not linking to them in the links below because they don’t deserve a link to a story that’s so wrong).
Let’s play some trivia to clear the bad vibes and then hear from Randy. This week’s installment of This Week in Mayberry History by Randy Turner featuring “Sheldon Leonard” Part 4.

In this season five “The Andy Griffith Show” episode entitled, ‘Andy and Helen Have Their Day’ which originally aired on December 14, 1964, Barney helps then hurts this endeavor!
Welcome to episode twenty nine of the Mayberry Devotional, entitled “Judge Not.” In today’s episode, I’m going to look at Episode 26 of The Andy Griffith Show, The Inspector and I’ll use Scripture from Matthew 7:1.
There are characters that appeared in Mayberry that we all remember so well that we assume they were often on the show. I’ve been amazed, when I started looking, at how few times some of our favorites actually visited Mayberry. Ernest T. Bass was only on five episodes. Briscoe Darling was only on six and the subject of this episode was only on four with only three of them being as Daphne.
Jean Carson not only played Daphne beside Joyce Jameson’s “Skippy” but only 5 episodes after her first appearance as Daphne in “Barney Mends a Broken Heart” she was back in Mayberry as husband beater “Naomi Connors” in “Convicts at Large.”
After we talk a bit about Jean we’ll have a few trivia questions to have fun with and then hear from Randy. This week’s installment of This Week in Mayberry History by Randy Turner featuring “Sheldon Leonard” Part 3.

Welcome to episode twenty eight of the Mayberry Devotional, entitled “I Just Assumed.” In today’s episode, I’m going to look at Episode 25 of The Andy Griffith Show, A Plaque for Mayberry and I’ll use Scripture from John 8:7.
