Several of them occur each year so make plans to attend and I really believe you’ll have a wonderful time.
Mayberry Days isn’t the only event so check out the “Event Calendar” link at iMayberry.com for a complete list of events. Try and make plans to visit one of these events and support folks that are trying to bring a little bit of Mayberry to your corner of the world.

Two Chairs No Waiting
Several folks responded to our last episode about the “king” of whistlers, Fred Lowery. If you didn’t hear lasts weeks show (#87), you may want to go back and give it a listen before this episode. We’ll talk a bit more about who exactly it was that whistled the theme of The Andy Griffith Show and theories about why people believe that Mr. Lowery was that whistler.
We’ll also be talking a bit about Mayberry Days held the last full weekend of September in Andy Griffith’s hometown Mt. Airy, NC. It’s certainly a sight to behold and I encourage you to attend Mayberry Days if you have a chance. It’s gooooood!
If you can’t attend, there are other events related to Mayberry and you can learn about them by going to the “Event Calendar” link at iMayberry.com. Try and make plans to visit one of these events and support folks that are trying to bring a little bit of Mayberry to your corner of the world.

Who is Sid Elson, what is he proprietor of, and how does this connect to The Andy Griffith Show. Those are really good questions and in this episode we’re going deep into some trivial trivialities to get answers that I believe you’ll enjoy.
For a minute I thought I’d discovered something but Paul Mulik beat me to it…by more than 5 years. There are screen captures of the things we’ll talk about over on our Facebook fan page.
We’ll also talk just a bit about the Burke on Mayberry podcast. Enjoy your stay here in our little corner of Mayberry.

On at least one occasion, right after Jim Lindsey is arrested for playing guitar in front of Monroe’s Funeral Parlor, we can glimpse writing on the left window of the Barber Shop next door (soon to be known to us as Floyd’s Barber Shop, with Floyd as proprietor) that says “Sid Elson, Prop.” Even later, of course, that space is Emmett’s Fix-It Shop, with Emmett Clark as proprietor, so both Floyd’s Barber Shop and Emmett’s Fix-It Shop are acceptable answers.

Two Chairs No Waiting
Mayberry fans know that 411 Elm Street is the addresses given for where Barney Fife lives. Well, in this episode we’ll have some fun and learn some history of these here United States in the process.
The shooting of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas changed America’s innocence. People stopped what they were doing and mourned for days over the news of the shooting.
Popular TV programs like “The Andy Griffith Show” stopped filming for days.
“My Fair Ernest T. Bass” was the episode being filmed the week President Kennedy was assassinated. What an amazing tribute to the actors that the episode shows no signs of sadness from that event.
How can I tie Mayberry to this historical event? You’ll have to listen to the podcast to find out.

Two Chairs No Waiting
This is an interview I did with Jean “Hello Doll” Carson back on 26 June 1998 in Kingsport, TN.
Jean passed away on November 2, 2005 and she is greatly missed but continues to bring smiles to the faces of The Andy Griffith Show fans as Daphne (the “Fun Girl”) and convict Naomi Connors.
Jean’s love for the fans was sincere and that love was returned to her by all that had the chance to meet her. I know you’ll enjoy the interview and the memories.

Two Chairs No Waiting
We’ve had wonderful segments of Two Chairs No Waiting during the Rodney Dillard interview and this final segment is no exception.
Our discussion turns more to The Andy Griffith Show and how being on the show has impacted The Dillards over the years. The feeling of “family” that The Dillards have when performing for audiences because the fans “know” them from The Andy Griffith Show.
Rodney also talks about being on the set between shots and how The Andy Griffith Show was different than other shows on which they appeared.
