We first hear from Randy Turner about the Mayberry Halloween connections then move on to the story of the Golden Arm.
The Golden Arm is a folktale appearing in many cultures through oral tradition. It was most famously told by Mark Twain and also used by him to instruct others in how to tell a story. In 2015, I presented the Mark Twain version of the story in episode #349. This being Halloween, it is time to tell the version of the story I discovered in 2016. Gather those you love nearby to keep you safe as you listen or watch.
This is spooky so be sure to keep those who might not sleep well, like children or Barney and Gomer, away from this episode… I wouldn’t want to have them staring into the night to see if someone might be lurking there looking for a golden arm.
Bonus: This week’s installment of This Week in Mayberry History by Randy Turner featuring Mayberry Halloween connections.
Extra Bonus (audio only): Mayberry After Midnight audio movie trailer (spooky but never made episode)
