There is only one Christmas episode of The Andy Griffith Show and fans still enjoy watching it each year.  I figure that listeners to this podcast enjoy hearing some of the same music each Christmas, too.  It’s a tradition that we’ll continue here at Two Chairs No Waiting to enjoy some Mayberry related Christmas music.

We get to hear Ben Sandifer’s wonderful Mayberry Christmas poem.

We take a wonderful return trip down memory lane with Charlie Monk called “Andy & Opie Christmas.”
Some “Fred Upstairs” want’a be sings “Barney the Mayberry Deputy.”  And we close out the show with Miss Ellie singing “Away in a Manger.”

I was looking around my “Mayberry” room at the different items I’ve collected over the years and realizing how much I enjoy having Mayberry things in my life.  Every week here on Two Chairs No Waiting I tell you about Weaver’s Department Store and sometimes I think that many of you don’t realize that it is a REAL store.  It isn’t just a name from The Andy Griffith Show that I made up as a sponsor for this podcast.  It’s real!

This week I thought it was time for me to point out things at Weaver’s that would be fun for the Mayberry fan in your life to have….even if that fan is you!  I smile just thinking about having a Mayberry calendar to look at every day of the next year or about having a shirt with Barney on front that I can wear to help start conversations.  It’s time to share those smiles with others by giving away a little bit of Mayberry for Christmas, a birthday, or just because you want to make somebody happy.

As I was thinking about The Andy Griffith Show and what it’s meant to me over the years it came to me that I’ve never talked about what I’m thankful for related to Mayberry.

Of course we’re all thankful that Andy created the town of Mayberry for us all to visit each week but there’s so much more to give thanks for.   Let’s spend a few minutes talking about just some of the wonderful things that Mayberry has given us and brought into our lives.

It seems like just yesterday when we celebrated out 250th podcast with an interview with TAGS cast member Betty “Thelma Lou” Lynn so it’s hard to believe we’re already at episode 260.   For this milestone episode I thought it only fitting to feature another cast member interview.

We heard from LeRoy “Mack” McNees a little more than a year ago so I’m glad to be able to have him back on the show.   LeRoy was a member of The Country Boys and appeared on two episodes of The Andy Griffith Show.  “Mayberry on Record” and “Quiet Sam” were the two episodes and LeRoy even had a speaking part on “Mayberry on Record.”

I’m sure you’ll enjoy this interview with LeRoy so sit back and have some fun.
