Listener Jerry from Cullman, AL called in with a voice mail related to a “strange and curious happening” that occurred during The Andy Griffith Show episode “A Black Day for Mayberry.”  I began to look into the events that happened throughout that episode and I have determined that  Count Istvan Teleky may, indeed, have been traveling through Mayberry in November of 1963 (when the episode was originally aired).

We see coats going from dry to wet and back to dry in seconds.  Entire men disappearing or changing their appearance right before our eyes.  Pants having gas on them…and then they don’t.  There is certainly something afoot and we’ll get to the root of it in this episode of Two Chairs.

Thanks to Jerry for shining a light on this episode of The Twilight Zone…err…I mean “The Andy Griffith Show.”

Let’s have a fun time visiting and celebrating the 200th episode of Two Chairs No Waiting!  What better way to have fun than to talk about Ernest T. Bass and his song “Old Aunt Maria.”

We find out where the words to the song came from and what the original name was before it became “Old Aunt Maria.”

Thank you all for being part of 200 episodes of the podcast.  There is so much Mayberry in this world if we just keep looking for it.  Go out there and share the spirit of love which is the real spirit of Mayberry.

You’re in for a real treat.  We’re lucky enough to have a special report from one of our listeners, Tim Bradshaw, as he recounts writer Ellery Klass‘ meeting Andy during the time when The Andy Griffith Show was still in production.

We also have some special music by Ernie Rowell. Ernie is from Alabama but lives now in Nashville, TN.  The song is called “I Wannta Be Like Andy” and I know you’re going to enjoy it.  You can purchase the song at the link below.

A very special edition of The eBullet, the official newsletter of The Andy Griffith Show Rerun Watchers Club, focused on Remembering Andy Griffith was published the last week of July 2012 just before this podcast was recorded.

The effort that editor of The eBullet, Jim Clark, put into the creation of this wonderful tribute is something I couldn’t let pass without sharing with all of you here on Two Chairs No Waiting.  Jim captured the feelings of no only himself but those of Andy’s co-workers, family and friends.  All were fans of Andy and we able to express their love of the man in ways I never could.

Thank you to Jim Clark for allowing us to provide an audio version of this issue of The eBullet to you in the form of our podcast.  I encourage you to go and read the words and see the photos in the published version of the article because I can’t share it all in the time we have together. There’s just so much to be said about Andy Griffith…we’ll never finish.

Two Chairs No WaitingHost: Allan Newsome

Some time has passed since Andy’s passing on Tuesday July 3, 2012 (I misspoke last week by saying Tuesday July 5th) but fans of Andy continue to express their love of the man who gave us Sheriff Andy Taylor, Ben Matlock, and so many other great memories.

We’ll look a bit in the history of Andy Griffith, his career, and more.  We’ll also hear from more fans like you so sit back and lets honor the life of THE man of Mayberry, Andy Griffith.
