Since the podcast began back in 2008, we’ve dedicated two previous episodes to Myers Lake/Franklin Canyon in Los Angeles but we haven’t discussed it since 2011, so let’s revisit.
Franklin Canyon is the one place that remains where fans of The Andy Griffith Show can go and walk in the footsteps of Andy and Opie. If you’re ever in the Los Angeles area, you do not want to miss your chance to visit the location that opened every episode of The Andy Griffith Show.
Andy and Opie walked along, Opie picked up a rock and then he threw it into the lake. Who can forget that and if you visit the location, you’ll never forget that either.
In the episode we talk not only about Myers Lake but also a little about two “Mayberry” related commercials I recently ran across. If you pay attention….Mayberry just seems to pop up no mater what you’re doing.

We missed out back in May catching up on what was happening with the cast & crew of The Andy Griffith Show from The eBullet so I thought we could use this opportunity to do just that.
Jim Clark, the Presiding Goober of The Andy Griffith Show Rerun Watchers Club, works hard every month on behalf of Mayberry fans around the globe gathering information about the folks who made Mayberry come to life. Jim is kind enough to allow us to share his information here on the show but it’s just a tiny taste of the wonderful Mayberry meal you can partake of each month by subscribing to The eBullet and The Weaver’s Newsletter.
Thank you, Jim, for all you do. Now….let’s catch up on News of Cast & Crew.

Continuing our series of episodes getting to know the people of Mayberry, we move along to Andy Taylor’s son. Who is Opie Taylor? Let’s find out.
Also, we’ll check out a 2006 article called “Pickups & Splashes from Floor and Pool” that I found while searching the web for that title recently. I was surprised to find an actual column in a newspaper titled the same as Barney’s column in the school paper.

Over the years we’ve had some fun playing Mayberry trivia here on the podcast. Some of the questions have been hard and some have been easy but this episode I wanted to have fun with you and the trivia questions.
All the answers to the questions will be “numbers.” That’s why I called the episode, “Mayberry by the Numbers.” I’m creative like that.
Sit back and put a bucket on your head so you can think better and let’s have fun with some Mayberry trivia.

In this “The Andy Griffith Show” season four episode entitled, ‘The Song Festers’ which originally aired on February 24, 1964, Gomer goes from changing a tire, to changing the choir! Be sure to visit www.BurkeOnMayberry.com .
To continue the series we started last episode, I thought it would be good to focus on Deputy Barney Fife and learn a bit more about him. I know we all think we know him but do we really know “Who is Barney Fife?” Did you know when he was 17 he could reach into a milk bottle and pull out an egg? What about his romance scandals? How many women does he date at the same time? What games did he enjoy as a boy?
So much to know about him and while I’m betting you’ve heard the stories…..you may not remember them all. So, let’s learn exactly “Who is Barney Fife?”
