In this “The Andy Griffith Show” season four episode entitled, ‘My Fair Ernest T. Bass’ which originally aired on February 3, 1964, Ernest T. Bass has a ‘blind date’ with Mrs. Wiley.” Be sure to visit www.BurkeOnMayberry.com .
I ran across a wonderful interview that first appeared in the Mt. Airy News on September 25, 2014. The story was written by Keith Strange and is titled “They Were Just Parents.”
In recent episodes, we’ve heard from George Lindsey Jr about his dad and this article brings Karen Knotts into the mix with both of them telling about growing up with famous dad’s. Keith did a great job pulling out details I had never hear so I know you’re going to enjoy this. A link to the original article is in the links section below.

We’re going to wrap up the last little bit of the George Lindsey Jr interview we did in episode 307 as it seems I left off about 3 minutes of information that I didn’t mean to cut.
Then we’re going to talk about some of the one of a kind Mayberry items you can find over at Weaver’s Department Store. It’s the Christmas season and there are so many things that fans of The Andy Griffith Show would love over at Weaver’s which were featured in the Weaver’s Newsletter and I didn’t want you to miss them.
Weaver’s Newsletter is a sister publication to The eBullet so if you enjoy The eBullet, you’d enjoy Weaver’s Newsletter as well.

Last episode we heard from George Lindsey by way of the very first interview I’d ever done with a cast member. This episode we get to hear from his son, George Lindsey Jr!
George Jr. joined Mayberry fans on the 9th Mayberry Cruise (2014) and had a great time visiting and sharing stories about his dad. The interview you’re about to hear was recorded live in front of a audience of fans that George Jr. called “family.” That’s what it’s like being a Mayberry fan….we’re family and it’s wonderful hearing one of the cast members “real” family say they consider us, the fans, an extended family.
You are going to enjoy George Jr’s memories of his dad and what it was like growing up with “Goober” as a “paw.”

The week this episode originally aired, it was Thanksgiving week in America. I guess that had me focused on things I’m thankful for and one of those was the time I was able to spend with George “Goober” Lindsey from The Andy Griffith Show.
The first four episodes of Two Chairs No Waiting consisted of an interview I did with George in 1998 that was broken into four parts in order to keep the episode length as short as possible. Over time the podcast has grown in length and I’ve always wanted to take those four parts and make them one seamless interview with George. What you’re about to hear is just that.
This interview was my very first one ever. It was recorded in 1998 in Jim Clark’s (the Presiding Goober of The Andy Griffith Show Rerun Watchers Club) living room in Nashville, TN. Present in the room were George Lindsey, Jim Clark, Kenneth Junkin, Jan Newsome, and myself.
As I said, this interview was the first time I’d ever “tried” to interview anyone and it was 10 years before I started this podcast. I had NO idea what I was doing so you may notice that George is basically asking himself questions. He was wonderful. I can’t thank him enough for helping me learn about being prepared. You will hear me piping in from time to time and you’ll hear Jim Clark answering questions in the background.
Some of what George discusses:
* His time on TAGS and Mayberry RFD.
* Reflections about fellow cast members.
* Howard McNear, Floyd Lawson, comments.
* Goober mannerisms, where they came from.
* Goober’s hat and where did that idea come from.
* Pen’s and stuff in his pockets.
* No real pranks on the set.
* Other areas of his carrier other than TAGS.
* He taught school in Hazel Green, AL for one year.
* The requirement to know your lines and being on-time were things Andy expected.
* Andy threw “Goober” in the lake.
* George Lindsey Film Festival.
Enjoy the interview!

Let’s check in with Jim Clark and The Andy Griffith Show Rerun Watchers Club (TAGSRWC) official newsletter, The eBullet, to see what’s happening around Mayberry and with the cast & crew.
Two Chairs No Waiting only gives you a small slice of what’s The eBullet has to offer so please subscribe to the newsletter (it’s FREE) so you’ll have it delivered directly to your e-mail inbox about six times a year. That way you won’t miss out on any of the Mayberry happenings throughout the year.
Since we’re benefiting from the hard work that Jim Clark did with The eBullet, I thought it would be a great time to hear from Jim himself. We go back to the 1995 Mayberry Squad Car Rendezvous where Jim is interviewed by Dennis Hasty and Mark “Golden” Richards.

We spent the last few weeks hearing from the Mayberry tribute artist about their memories of Mayberry, before that we talked about Mayberry Days 2014, and now we’re heading back to 1995’s Mayberry Squad Car Rendezvous held in Bradford, OH to hear from Richard O. Links.
Mr. Linke was Andy Griffith’s (as well as several other cast members) manager and associate or executive producer of many television series including The Andy Griffith Show, Mayberry R.F.D., and the Return to Mayberry reunion movie. If anyone was “in the know about what happened in and around Mayberry, Mr. Linke would be high on the list.
You will enjoy this interview with Mr. Linke as he answers question from the crowd. You’ll hear Mark “Golden” Richards and Dennis Hasty working the crowd providing microphones to those asking questions and throwing in questions of their own from time to time.
