I’m so thankful to have you join me on the Mayberry Bible Study Podcast. I hope you enjoy your visit with me here in Mayberry and that you learn something along the way that may help you in your life. A study of God’s word can’t help but be helpful to us in growing our character, even if that study is inspired by The Andy Griffith Show.
Barney decides to make a big purchase – his first car! A sweet, older lady from Mt. Pilot brings in her deceased husband’s vehicle to meet with Barney’s approval. It seems like a great deal to him, but Andy suggests he think about it some more or at least have Wally look at it first. Barney simply can’t wait and closes the deal. The car turns out to be a lemon, and Mrs. Lesch proves she isn’t much better.
Lesson Points:
Some of the points we’ll hit during this study are below. For a complete list, download the lesson plan.
Deceptive People – Ecclesiastes 9:17
Deceived People – Proverbs 2:9-15
Prudent People – Proverbs 1:1-7

There was so much information about the connections between Mayberry and The Ghost and Mr. Chicken (TGAMC) that it took two episodes of the podcast to cover it all and part 2 is one of the longest episodes ever of Two Chairs No Waiting to fit it all in.
There are about 19 TAGS/TGAMC connections that our crack research staff..okay it was just me but it sounds better to say it was a staff…was able to find.
I hope you’ll enjoy audio clips from TGAMC and the loads of Mayberry fun in this episode of the podcast.

Set in Rachel Kansas, The Ghost and Mr. Chicken is one of my favorite Don Knotts movies. That could be because so many folks from Mayberry showed up in this, Mr. Knotts first movie after leaving The Andy Griffith Show.
The first is, of course, Don Knotts as Luther Heggs but lets start of with the behinds the scenes folk. The Ghost and Mr. Chicken was written by Jim Fritzell and Everett Greenbaum. Andy Griffith also helped re-write the script but is uncredited for his efforts.
That is only the beginning of the connections and fun trivia related to Mayberry and Don Knotts first movie following The Andy Griffith Show. Turns out there was so much that this will be the first of two episodes of Two Chairs No Waiting that we’ll do on The Ghost and Mr. Chicken.

Jack Dodson is best remembered for is role of Howard Sprague on the Andy Griffith Show but he was more than that. He liked camping, was a fan of boxing, Spencer Tracy movies, and he attended Carnegie Tech (Carnegie Mellon University as it’s known now).
I got a wonderful surprise back in 2006 when Scott Helmandollar wrote to me and shared a few photos his father had taken back in the mid-1950’s.
Let’s visit our Mayberry friends and learn more about Jack Dodson and Howard Sprague.

In this “The Andy Griffith Show” episode entitled, ‘The Rivals’ which originally aired on April 8, 1963, Barney and Opie vie for Thelma Lou’s attention, until Opie has success with someone his own age.
Let’s kick off the fourth year of podcasting here at Two Chairs No Waiting with a little look back to the way things were at the beginning. Episode #1 was released on October 11, 2008 so the release date of #157 is exactly 3 years, and 156 episodes later.
Things have changed a little over the years (like the audio quality and having a video version of the show) but I hope the Mayberry spirit continues to flow though from me to you.
I have enjoyed bringing you a little under 41 hours (40.8 hours) of Two Chairs No Waiting over the past 3 years. Thank you to all of you for listening and supporting the show.
The Andy Griffith Show and Mayberry are alive and doing well. Thank you all for keeping the Mayberry spirit alive.
