Two Chairs No Waiting
This episode is actually about news of the week. It was hard to ignore that Mayberry’s very own Betty “Thelma Lou” Lynn was robbed this past week so tonight I’ll be giving you a report about that AND an update from Ms Lynn about how she’s doing.
We’re also going to talk about the fact that CBS will be sponsoring an actual NASCAR commemorative racecar paying tribute to The Andy Griffith Show’s 50th Anniversary! That’s BIG!

Two Chairs No Waiting
This is the final segment of the 1991 Opryland press conference. I took a couple of weeks off between the third segment of the press conference and this one. If you missed any of the first 3 part, or have forgotten them, you’ll want to drop back by and give a listen to episodes 73, 76, & 77.
George Lindsey, Don Knotts, Betty Lynn, Maggie Peterson, Rodney Dillard, and Jack Prince all have things to say during this segment. Some of the question are hard to hear and the audio isn’t perfect but we’re just lucky to have this tape recording of the press conference.
Many thanks to Jim Clark, Presiding Goober of “The Andy Griffith Show” Rerun Watchers Club (TAGSRWC) headquarters for allowing us to have this piece of history to share with all the fans.

Two Chairs No Waiting
A gem of a find with Mayberry’s own fun girl Jean “Hello Doll” Carson (TCNW #66: Jean Carson Interview) as the focus.
In answer to a request by caller Kyle heard in TCNW #78, I was looking around for other work our Mayberry friends did outside of The Andy Griffith Show and I found “Plan for Escape” (November 17, 1952).
“Plan for Escape” was an episode of the CBS-TV anthology series Studio One (a.k.a. Westinghouse Studio One in honor of the sponsor of the show). The story is a damsel-in-distress type gangster story and is basically a play filmed live. Jean plays Mary Warren who is a cocktail-lounge singer.
I thought you might like hearing Mayberry’s Daphnie sing as well as a bit of the dialog. The song is “I Only Saw Him Once” by Joan Whitney/Alex Kramer.

Two Chairs No Waiting
A fellow fan of The Andy Griffith Show, Matthew Morgan, contacted recently to tell me that he’d seen something special while watching Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C. This is certainly “inside baseball”, so to speak but big Mayberry fans will remember and hopefully enjoy our trivial meanderings through the world of Mayberry, NC.
In the season 7 episode of The Andy Griffith Show “Barney Comes to Mayberry”, yeah..it is color but stick with me, Barney Fife returned to Mayberry and happens to be on the same train with Teena Andrews, a Mayberry native returning to town for the premiere of her new Hollywood movie.
Teena’s publicity man learns she used to date Barney back when she was known as Irene Flogg so he arranges for Barn to escort her to the premiere.
Now that you’re up to speed on who Teena Andrews is, you’ll want to give a listen to find out how Teena shows up in the Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. season 4 episode called “Change Partners.”
I also want to mention Movie’s for the Blind where you can download and listen to, currently, 4 episodes of TAGS like they are audio books. I think you’ll enjoy it and it’s a great service for those Mayberry fans who are visually impaired.

Two Chairs No Waiting
I’ve been getting a good bit of listener comments and questions over the last several weeks so I thought I would try and run through some of them this week.
I don’t pretend to be an expert in all things Mayberry so I may not have the answer to all the questions. Hopefully you will be able to help me where I fall short on being able to provide what your fellow listeners are asking for. Feel free to drop me a voice mail to let us all hear the answers you can provide.
Answers or not…let’s have some Mayberry fun in tonight’s show.
