Welcome to episode 115 of the Mayberry Devotional entitled “Jesus as Our Example.” Today I’ll be looking at season four, episode seventeen of The Andy Griffith Show, “My Fair Ernest T. Bass”. And I’ll also be looking at Scripture from Titus 3:2.
“to speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people” ESV
I have been going through the Two Chairs No Waiting archives looking at things I have collected over the years. Photos, flyers, clippings and stories about our friends in Mayberry. I’ve been collecting these things for a while so it’s like finding “new” things. They aren’t new but I haven’t seen them in 20 or 30 years so they seem new when looking at them now.
One that I ran across was a story by Steve Maze from Alabama and his personal encounter with George Lindsey. It was written in 2003 but the encounter happened in 2001. I thought this would be something you would enjoy hearing and reliving along with me.
We’re gonna play trivia but this time we’ll do things a little different than we have been. You have two chances to answer the question. You get 2 points if you can answer without help and 1 point if you have to wait until the multiple choice selection is presented. I thought this would be a fun change of pace.
Enjoy the show and let me hear what you think about it. I’d love to hear from you.

Beginning back in the early 1980s, The Andy Griffith Show Rerun Watchers Club (TAGSRWC) began publishing newsletters. Over those years there were hundreds of stories written and published in the official newsletters called The Bullet, The eBullet, The Pocket, and The Button. The information provided was timeless. Because so many of you have never seen the stories published in the early days of TAGSRWC, Weaver’s Newsletter asked Jim Clark if they could re-publish articles for fans to enjoy. Permission was granted so here’s our first “rerun.”
The story is being published in the April 2023 edition of the Weaver’s Newsletter. “Mayberry Mountain People” was written by Ken Beck and originally featured in The Bullet: Volume 1, Issue 2 – Published March 18, 1983. Enjoy this look back to the early days of TAGSRWC.
We’ll play a little trivia and see what other Mayberry fun can be had.

Welcome to episode 114 of the Mayberry Devotional entitled “The Top Three.” Today I’ll be looking at season four, episode sixteen of The Andy Griffith Show, “Barney’s Sidecar”. And I’ll also be looking at Scripture from Romans 12:11.
“Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.” ESV
I know many of you have been missing roving reporter Randy Turner so I thought I’d talk about just some of what he has going one. The focus this week being “The Andy Griffith Show Ambassadors Magazine” published by Randy with stories by not only him but out fellow Mayberry fans. It begain back in 2020 and comes out quarterly in a 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 “fanzine” format. If you’re looking for a physical bit of Mayberry to hold in your hands, consider subscribing.
To give you a taste of what you are missing in the Ambassadors Magazine, we’re going to cover an article from the Fall 2020 edition called “Fumble Ball in Mayberry.” No, it’s not about a drill done at football practice. It’s about a form of baseball/softball played with a balled called a “fumble ball” and there’s a connection to Mayberry. Dick Villard joins Randy in the creation of this bit of Mayberry trivia you likely have never heard.
We’ll play some fun Mayberry trivia following the fumble so stick around for all the fun.

Welcome to episode 113 of the Mayberry Devotional entitled “Confession is Good for the Soul.” Today I’ll be looking at season four, episode fifteen of The Andy Griffith Show, “Aunt Bee the Crusader”. And I’ll also be looking at Scripture from Proverbs 28:13
“Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.” ESV
This episode we wrap up Col. Tim’s from Mayberry Days 2002. The previous parts of this series we saw Betty Lynn (Thelma Lou), Howard Morris (Ernest T. Bass) and Maggie Peterson (Charlene) singing so if you missed that, go back and give those episodes a view or listen.
This episode we get to hear James Best (Jim Lindsey) sing…well…not really but it’s certainly something fun to see. I featured James and David Browning (The Mayberry Deputy) 15 episodes ago (#712) from Col Tim’s 2007. James and David did this routine many times over the years and they are all different, at least slightly, so I know you’ll enjoy seeing them have fun together.
Finally, we’ll have some ‘real’ singing from “Pink Floyd & the Cutups” with a performance of “There’s a Shop in Mayberry.” (Lyrics by Lyle Fales)
Mayberry Days is always special and you never know what you’re going to see. The same can be said about the other Mayberry events where the Mayberry tribute artists have a chance to perform. Try and attend an event. I really believe you’d have fun.
