Last episode we talked about the writers of The Andy Griffith Show. As I said then, they don’t get mentioned as much as the actors but it was the writers that actually created the characters we all loved. Without the writers, we wouldn’t have gotten the stories about Opie’s Newspaper, Divorce Mountain Style, and ALL the other amazing moments that happened in Mayberry. It was the writers who created the town of Mayberry and helped the actors make it come to life.
There’s an out of print book called “Inside Mayberry: ‘The Andy Griffith Show’ Handbook” by Dan Harrison and Bill Habeeb that gives us an entire chapter on the writers. I’m going to share the insight the Harrison & Habeeb divined in their chapter about “The Writers.” I’ll be doing some reading but hopefully the story told is good enjoy to excuse having the host read to you.
By popular demand, we’ll finish hearing from the writers this week. Many of you asked for it…so here we go.

I traveled up to Danville, IN this past weekend for a few Mayberry related events that I want to share with you. They were all great fun and I encourage you to make plans to attend a Mayberry event in your area. You’ll meet some of the salt of this earth.
