In this season five “The Andy Griffith Show” episode entitled, ‘The Darling Baby’ which originally aired on December 7, 1964, Opie gets engaged – until Andy comes to the rescue!
We’ve all heard from Randy Turner each week since January 2017. Randy has worked hard to bring unique information related to The Andy Griffith Show that we might never have heard before. In this episode, we get to learn a little more about Randy. How he became a fan; what keeps him going; and more. I know you’ll enjoy learning more about our “roving reporter.”
There isn’t a “This Week in Mayberry History” this week since the whole episode is about Randy Turner. I figured he deserved a little time off.

This episode looks at episode four of The Andy Griffith Show, Ellie Comes to Town, and uses part of it as an illustration to the Bible Verse Jonah 1:3a, “But Jonah rose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD.”
In episode 594 of Two Chairs No Waiting we had fun getting to know Andy Griffith Show fan and actor Danny Vinson. In this episode we get to see some behind the scenes conversation with Danny showing us around his memory room. The room is full of memories of his carrier and it’s really amazing how many of Danny’s stories turn into Mayberry stories. He’s a true fan and I know you’re going to enjoy it.
One thing I would recommend is that you actually watch the video version of this episode. Danny shows us a lot of things and I think the video makes it a bit more fun. I did the best I could to make the audio version fun for those who can’t, or don’t want to, watch the video.
No Mayberry History report this week because I’m on the set filming the Mayberry Man movie.

In this season five “The Andy Griffith Show” episode entitled, ‘The Pageant’ which originally aired on November 30, 1964, Aunt Bee attempts to play Lady Mayberry in the Centennial play, yet has a change of heart.
There has been a lot of conflicting information about the status of Mayberry Days 2020. An article just came out in the Mount Airy News that details the plans for the event. I’m going to go through that article in an attempt to set the record straight and to help you know what the plans actually are for this year’s event.
We’ll also hear a little about the Virtual Mayberry Meet-up that was held this past weekend and some information about things Randy Turner is doing related to Mayberry.
Bonus: This week’s installment of This Week in Mayberry History by Randy Turner featuring “Tol Avery.”
