August 29, 2020 will be the 94th birthday of actress Betty Lynn who played the love of Barney’s life, Thelma Lou. We have several episode of Two Chairs dedicated to Betty but can you really ever talk enough about Thelma Lou? I say no. Especially when it’s her birthday week!

I ran across some interesting information a few weeks back and I wanted to be certain that you knew about it. It has to do with a lady named Lillian Culver. She only appeared one time on The Andy Griffith Show but Mayberry owes more to her than being the mother of one of Mayberry’s finest. It’s big! Big, big! I received a letter from a long time Mayberry friend
I met Danny Vinson several years ago at the George Lindsey Film Festival and right away I knew he was a Mayberry man through and through. Over the years I’ve been able to get to know him better and consider him a friend. I should also mention that Danny is a “working actor” which means he makes a living acting. He’s been in more than 86 movies, had done television, and commercials….but mostly, he’s a great guy.
I know you’re going to enjoy hearing him talk about how he met George “Goober” Lindsey, Don Knotts, Howard Morris, and so much more. As I said, he’s a fan of The Andy Griffith Show and when I meet a fellow fan, there’s always plenty to talk about.

I received a letter from a long time Mayberry friend and listener to Two Chairs that I thought was BIG….Big, Big. As a result, I’m focusing this episode on this wonderful memory that Johnna from the “Blood Brothers” Chapter of The Andy Griffith Show Rerun Watchers Club located in Macon, MO. Johnna and her fellow blood-brothers make the trek from MO to NC almost yearly. I believe her story is something you’ll enjoy

The 8th annual Mayberry Meet-up was held in Mt. Airy, NC the weekend of 17-19 July 2020. There were 75+ in attendance and there were challenges to be able to gather because of the covid-19 virus situation but we did meet. Folks “social distanced” and even wore mask when needed. Anything to get just a few days together in Mayberry.
This episode is a report about the goings on that occurred during the weekend.
