In this season five, “The Andy Griffith Show” episode entitled, ‘Goober Takes a Car Apart,’ which originally aired January 11, 1965, Goober causes much car trouble!
The debate over how to spell Aunt “Bee” has been going on for years. Online, you see it spelled “Bea” a lot and I realized that in all the years of doing this podcast I have never addressed the issue specifically, until now.
I provide evidence that B-E-E is the correct spelling as well as some information about the name Beatrice and its origins. I’ve also created a PDF file that can be shared to help provide the correct information to any who are willing to read rather than listen to (or watch) this episode of Two Chairs.
Bonus: This week’s installment of This Week in Mayberry History by Randy Turner featuring part 4 of his review of “No Time for Sergeants.”

In this season five “The Andy Griffith Show” episode entitled, ‘Aunt Bee’s Romance’ which originally aired on October 19, 1964, Aunt Bee is revisited by a former beau (Roger) who does not make a good impression with Andy and Opie.
We’ve looked into the lives of Andy, Opie, and Barney so now I thought it was fitting to take a look at the lady who takes care of these men, Aunt Bee.
We all know Aunt Bee but how much do you know about here. Hopefully you learn some things or be reminded of why Aunt Bee may have represented the Mayberry spirit better than anyone. She did, after all, put family above all else by taking care and raising both Andy and Opie. The love she showed is something I think the world could use so much more of.

Folks seemed to have enjoyed our last few episodes and our visits with the folks that live in, or have visited, the town that inspired “Mayberry” of The Andy Griffith Show. I’m glad that’s the case because this episode we continue our visit with Alma Venable from the Mayberry Motor Inn in Mount Airy, NC.
Kenneth “Otis” Junkin joins me in the back room of the Mayberry Motor Inn as we hear more from Alma about Andy’s mother and many other things that provide a background that fans will enjoy. My thanks to Alma for spending so much time with us and giving us a glimpse into the real “Mayberry” of Andy’s home town.

The week following Mayberry Days 2012 I was lucky enough to make my way back to the home of Mayberry Days, Mount Airy, NC. It was a great visit! I was able to spend time with Debbie and Darrel Miles, as you heard on episode 211 of this podcast, and the fun continued later into the evening.
Kenneth “Otis” Junkin and I were able to sit down with Mayberry Motor Inn owner Alma Venable to complete that wonderful, Mayberry evening. We sat and talked about how she came to be the owner of the Mayberry Motor Inn, how she came to be “Aunt Bee,” and so much more.

The Labor Day holiday is upon us here in the ole US of A so it had me thinking that there were several times jobs/labor were talked about in the town of Mayberry. We’ll visit with Aunt Bee, Gomer, and Opie as they attempt to find jobs in our home town.
Aunt Bee gets her job from some folks using green ink to print…things. Gomer gets fired by Wally and tries to find a different job all the while staying with the Taylor’s at their house.
We’ve talked about Opie getting a job (back on episode 131 of Two Chairs) but we’ll look at it from a slightly different point of view this time. All-in-all the jobs in Mayberry don’t seem too hard to get but keeping this is like holding on to a greased pig.
Come on with me and let’s visit in Mayberry.
