Merry Christmas!  It is a great time of year to be spending time with friends and family.  That’s what I think of you as, friends and family, so I’m thankful to have this chance to visit with you in Mayberry.

The Andy Griffith Show only has one “Christmas” episode and I know fans enjoy watching it year after year.  Because of that, I figure that listeners to this podcast enjoy hearing some of the same things each Christmas as well.  It’s a tradition if you do it more than twice so we’ll continue the traditions we’ve started here at Two Chairs No Waiting.

We get to hear Ben Sandifer’s wonderful Mayberry Christmas poem.

We take a wonderful return trip down memory lane with Charlie Monk called “Andy & Opie Christmas.”
Some “Fred Upstairs” want’a be sings “Barney the Mayberry Deputy.”  And we close out the show with Miss Ellie singing “Away in a Manger.”

God bless you and may the year to come be a wonderful blessing to you and yours.

Two Chairs No WaitingWow…it’s Christmas time again here in Mayberry.  There may have been only one Christmas episode of The Andy Griffith Show but this is our fourth Christmas episode for the Two Chairs No Waiting podcast.

I’m excited to have some great old Mayberry favorites to share with you.

Maybery fan, Ben Sandifer, provided us a wonderful Mayberry poem for Christmas last year so I thought you folks like like hearing it again.

We’ll take a wonderful new trip down memory lane by Charlie Monk called “Andy & Opie Christmas” which is a brand new treat for us this year.

We’ll have fun enjoying Miss Ellie singing “Away in a Manger” to close out the podcast because over the years that’s been the tradition for the Christmas episodes.

If you don’t enjoy any of that…I’ll try a few other things to make your Christmas as Mayberry as possible.

Two Chairs No Waiting

Mayberry Christmas to all!  Lets have some fun and sing along with “Barney the Mayberry Deputy” (Sung to the tune “Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer). The lyrics are below.

We also get to hear Miss Ellie sing Away in a Manger for the close of the podcast.  I hope this episode brings to mind the joy of the Christmas season no matter what time of year you happen to be listening.

Barney the Mayberry Deputy
(Sung to the tune “Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer”)

Barney the Mayberry deputy,
Had a very shiny badge,
And when he cleaned his bullet,
He would use liquid Pledge.

All of the other deputies,
Tried but it just wasn’t the same,
They couldn’t match ole Barney,
Tiger Fife was his name.

Then one foggy Christmas Eve,
Andy came to say,
Barney with your build so right,
Won’t you be our Santa tonight.

My how the folks there loved him,
Andy, Opie, Ellie and Aunt Bee,
Barney the Mayberry Deputy,
You’ll go down in History!!!

Two Chairs No Waiting

Two Chairs No Waiting

Christmas time is here so I thought I’d discuss the one and only Christmas episode of The Andy Griffith Show.

“Who’s Been Messin’ Up the Bulletin Board?” Chapter member, Janet brought to our attention recently an inconsistency in the Christmas episode that I’d never noticed so I thought I’d share it with you.  You’ll want visit the Photos link over on our Facebook fan page (http://www.facebook.com/twochairs) to see screen shots of the things I’m talking about in this episode when you have a chance. The magical card switch is easy to see (time 1:51 into episode on season DVD) when you watch the episode so pay attention when you watch the episode this Christmas.

Since next week is Christmas week, I’m going to play Miss Ellie singing “Away in a Manger” to close out to the show.

I hope you enjoy it.

Away in a Manger

Andy & Ellie Singing

(NOTE: If you originally got episode 10 in your feed…sorry about that error. Here’s the corrected feed.)

Merry Christmas from Two Chairs No Waiting. This episode features an interview with Elinor Donahue recorded during rehearsal for the Mayberry in Meadowview event held in Kingsport, TN on June 27, 1998. It is a fun interview and “Miss Ellie” is a wonderful person. I can’t thank her enough for sitting down and talking with me.  We end the episode in a special way as well so be sure to listen.
