Mayberry Days 2019 is fast approaching and The Andy Griffith Show is everywhere. This past week TAGSRWC’s own Neal Brower appeared on “Talk of the Town” aired on C19TV. Talk of the Town is original programming produced by Cleveland Community College in Shelby, NC and airing on Cleveland County NC Spectrum Cable Channel 19.
Neal contacted Two Chairs No Waiting HQ because he thought I might enjoy watching the episode and boy was he right. During the interview, Neal talked about much more that Mayberry Days. Neal always has great information about The Andy Griffith Show and this interview was no exception.
The interview was so good that you host jumped into action and contacted C19TV to ask permission to rebroadcast the segment with Professor Brower and they were kind enough to grant the request.
I know you’re going to enjoy hearing the interviewer Steve Putnam and Neal talking Mayberry.

You may know that Mayor Pike had a daughter but did you realize they were twins? In recent research of episodes I realized that it is possible that Mayberry’s own Mayor Pike had twin girls PLUS he has a 3rd daughter that I don’t believe we ever met during an episode.
Looking into this also lead to my researching of one of the two episodes containing the girls I’m calling the Pike twins. In the first of those episodes, Mayberry Goes Hollywood, the town folk were planning to cut down the old oak tree. Mr. Harmon asked the Mayor why they were cutting it down and he said it was full of “twig girdlers.” What is a “twig girdler?” You’ll find out.

There is a fun magazine for any fan of The Andy Griffith Show called, fittingly, Mayberry Magazine. This edition of the podcast was inspired by an article in the September 2019 issue of Mayberry Magazine called “Mayberry Olympics?”
Writer John Peters drew my attention to several things that happen at Mayberry Days that I’ve never talked about here on the podcast so I thought I’d share some of them with you. If you’d like to subscribe to “Mayberry Magazine” and get 8 issues delivered to you mailbox, you’ll have to call them at (336)786-4141 and they’ll help you out.

Everybody seems to enjoy the trivia question episodes of Two Chairs so I figured it was time for more trivia. This episode will feature questions related to music.
There are ten questions and a bonus question that isn’t music related. There are also eight other possible bonus points I allow. So, grab a piece of paper and a pencil so you can see how many of the possible 20 points you can earn. I think a score of ten would be a good one so anything better than that is icing on the cake.

We have some great listener feedback that has been coming in over the last several weeks so we’ll take this episode to catch up. We have both voicemail feedback and written so you’ll be able to enjoy hearing from fellow listeners/views of the podcast rather than just hearing from me. That’s a hit, write or call in so you I’m not the only one you get to hear each week.

In the last episode of Two Chairs No Waiting I covered how the Legacy of Mayberry had impacted the entertainment world. It is fitting that since I released that episode and the began preparing for this one that I found an example of how Mayberry has impacted the “real” world. Not just impacted but was actually used to make a legal judgement.
Stick around because you’ll enjoy this story.
